Senior SEO Specialist

Remote | Marketing / SEO | Full-Time or Contract | 9 AM–5 PM Central Time

About Us

Geek Powered Studios is an award-winning digital marketing agency in Austin, TX. We specialize in Home Services and Healthcare — industries like HVAC, plumbing, roofing, dentists, LASIK centers, and medical clinics. We are ROI-obsessed, focusing on revenue and leads, not vanity metrics. Our SEO approach is holistic: local, technical, on-page, off-page, and content — adapted to each client, never one-size-fits-all.

What You Will Do

  • Run full SEO audits for client websites — find problems, build solutions, track results.
  • Do keyword research and build content strategies based on search intent, competition, and SERP behavior.
  • Implement on-page SEO: title tags, meta descriptions, headers, internal linking, and content optimization.
  • Handle technical SEO: site speed, schema markup, structured data, XML sitemaps, 301 redirects, crawl errors, and indexing issues.
  • Build and manage local SEO strategies: Google Business Profile optimization, citation management, NAP consistency, and location pages.
  • Execute link building campaigns: outreach, link auditing, and building high-quality backlinks.
  • Write or optimize SEO content: blog posts, landing pages, and service pages that rank and convert.
  • Use AI tools (ChatGPT, Gemini, etc.) to improve SEO workflows — from content ideation to keyword clustering to technical audits.
  • Monitor rankings, traffic, and conversions using Google Analytics, Google Search Console, Semrush, or Ahrefs.
  • Deliver clear performance reports to account managers and participate in client communication when needed.
  • Stay ahead of Google algorithm updates, AI search trends, and emerging SEO tools and methods.
  • Optimize for AI and LLM visibility (ChatGPT, Perplexity, etc.) as part of evolving search strategy.

What You Need

5+ years of hands-on SEO experience with proven results (traffic growth, ranking improvements, lead generation).

Local SEO (Required – Must Be Advanced)

You must have hands-on experience ranking local service businesses in the map pack. This includes:

  • Building and optimizing Google Business Profiles (including service-area businesses).
  • Managing and scaling local citation campaigns (Whitespark, BrightLocal, etc.).
  • Creating and interlinking location + service page structures.
  • Understanding proximity, relevance, and prominence factors.
  • Troubleshooting ranking drops, suspensions, and duplicate listings.

If your experience is mostly content or general SEO, this role is not a fit.

  • Technical SEO skills — site speed, schema, crawl audits, indexing, URL structure. You know your way around Screaming Frog.
  • On-page SEO — keyword optimization, content structure, meta tags, internal linking. Second nature to you.
  • Link building — experience with outreach, link auditing, and building quality backlinks that actually move rankings.
  • SEO toolsSemrush, Ahrefs, Screaming Frog, Google Analytics, Google Search Console. You use these daily.
  • AI-powered SEO — you actively use AI tools like ChatGPT, Gemini, or similar to speed up keyword research, content optimization, and technical audits.
  • Content optimization — you can write or improve SEO content that ranks. Blog posts, service pages, landing pages.
  • HTML/CSS basics — enough to make on-page changes, troubleshoot code issues, and work with developers.
  • Analytical thinking — you make decisions based on data, not guesses. You can read reports and spot opportunities.
  • Good English communication — you can write clearly, explain your strategy, and present results to the team.

Benefits

  • 100% remote work.
  • Uncapped PTO.
  • Paid holidays.
  • Flexible start times after 90 days.
  • 401(k) or Roth with company match.
  • Medical, dental, vision, and life insurance.
  • Opportunities for learning, growth, and team-building.

Nice to Have

  • Agency experience (managing multiple client accounts at once).
  • Experience in Home Services or Healthcare SEO.
  • Knowledge of JavaScript, PHP, or WordPress development.
  • Experience with heatmap tools (Hotjar, Microsoft Clarity) for user behavior analysis.
  • CRO (Conversion Rate Optimization) experience.
  • Experience optimizing for AI/LLM search platforms (Perplexity, SearchGPT, etc.).

Who This Is NOT For

  • SEOs who rely heavily on AI to generate audits or strategies without understanding the “why”.
  • Candidates without recent Local SEO experience (past 2–3 years).
  • SEOs who primarily worked in content, ecommerce, or national SEO without map pack experience.

Schedule & Pay

  • Hours: Monday–Friday, 9 AM–5 PM U.S. Central Time. This is required.
