Senior Web Designer/Developer

Location: APG, MD or remote

Ability to obtain and maintain a Secret security clearance is required.

This Senior Web Designer/Developer role provides comprehensive web design and development services for CPE IEW&S communication and information platforms. Responsibilities include complex coding, system maintenance, analytics integration, marketing support, and user education, delivering uniquely tailored products to meet organizational needs.

Key Responsibilities

  • Oversee all aspects of web design projects, including creative direction, timeline management, and developer collaboration.
  • Ensure exceptional user experience (UX) and maintain consistent brand identity across all web properties.
  • Lead bi-annual major website design updates, integrating advanced features like 3D models and interactive technologies.
  • Provide expert web design and development, including complex coding, maintenance, analytics, and marketing integration.
  • Develop custom applications and websites, including non-form-driven solutions requiring advanced programming in HTML5, CSS, JavaScript, Python, PHP, and SQL.
  • Implement robust front-end user interfaces and back-end functionalities for public-facing and internal websites.
  • Offer graphics support for SharePoint and other internal content management systems.
  • Utilize analytics and monitoring tools to enhance site performance, user behavior, and overall usability.
  • Design and support customized event registration and information sites.
  • Ensure strict compliance with DoD and Army cybersecurity and accessibility standards for all web assets.
  • Develop technical documentation and configuration settings for web security, backup procedures, and site architecture.
  • Provide backup support for digital and social media platforms, ensuring consistent messaging.
  • Assist with other graphics-related functions, such as event photography and awards production.
  • Support other developers in day-to-day website operations, including system security, configuration, and backups.

Required Skills & Experience

  • Advanced technical proficiency in responsive design, wireframing, and visual design.
  • Extensive experience in web design, emphasizing responsive design principles.
  • Strong understanding of user experience (UX) design methodologies.
  • Excellent visual design skills and meticulous attention to detail.
  • Proficiency in design software such as Adobe Creative Suite, Photoshop, Dreamweaver, and PowerPoint.
  • Expertise in web development languages including HTML, DHTML, CSS, JavaScript, and XML.
  • Proficiency in web programming, server operations, and custom application development.
  • Knowledge of operating systems such as UNIX, Windows NT, and TCP/IP.
  • Strong communication and presentation skills to effectively convey design ideas.
  • Awareness of web accessibility guidelines and best practices.

Education/ Experience

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Software Development, Graphic Design, Computer Information Systems, or Web Design.
  • A minimum of ten (10) years of experience in conceptualization, layout, typography, photography, illustration, Web Design, animation, production, and prepress work.
  • Includes five (5) or more years of professional Web development/coding experience in Photoshop, Dreamweaver, PowerPoint, HTML, DHTML, CSS, JavaScript, and XML.
  • Substitution: An Associate’s degree and a minimum of twelve (12) years' experience in Computer Science, Software Development, Graphic Design, Computer Information Systems, or Web Design. Additional years of experience may substitute for the field of study.
