This position is an internship with an organization that helps individuals find their families and helps law enforcement give unidentified human remains their names back. This is all done with use of Investigative Genetic Genealogy. We are looking for someone who is interested in building their portfolio. Participating in IGG is not necessary, but this person will be considered for a volunteer position if they choose. We are willing to work with any university to help students get their feet wet.

You will oversee the entire website lifecycle—from conceptualization and design to implementation, maintenance, and optimization—driving engagement and supporting our digital marketing initiatives. Your expertise will help shape our online identity, making it compelling, accessible, and aligned with our brand goals.
Responsibilities
- Develop visually engaging and user-friendly web interfaces using advanced digital design techniques, including interaction design, motion graphics, and responsive layouts.
- Manage website content updates and maintenance across various content management systems such as WordPress, Drupal, or custom platforms.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to translate business needs into effective web solutions utilizing HTML, CSS, JavaScript, PHP, Angular, React, and other front-end technologies.
- Implement SEO best practices to enhance search engine rankings and improve organic traffic through analytics tools like Google Analytics 360 and Adobe Analytics.
- Conduct user research and usability testing to optimize the user experience (UX) and ensure web accessibility standards are met for all users.
- Create wireframes, prototypes, and layout designs using tools like Figma, Adobe XD, InVision, or Balsamiq to visualize concepts before development.
- Oversee website analytics data to monitor performance metrics, identify areas for improvement, and execute data-driven strategies for continuous enhancement.
- Lead website updates by integrating web development frameworks such as Bootstrap, Node.js, Redux, and SCSS to ensure responsiveness across devices.
- Coordinate with developers on front-end development tasks while maintaining high standards of visual design using Adobe Creative Suite (Photoshop, Illustrator, InDesign) and motion graphics tools like Adobe After Effects.
- Ensure web accessibility compliance (WCAG) standards) and usability best practices are embedded in all projects for maximum inclusivity.
Qualifications
- Experience in digital design
- Proficiency in interaction design principles, and layout design best practices.
- Knowledge of front-end development languages including HTML5, CSS3 (SCSS), JavaScript frameworks (React, Angular), PHP, MySQL databases, and version control systems like Git.
- Familiarity with content management systems such as WordPress or Drupal for website management and content updates.
- Understanding of SEO strategies combined with experience analyzing web analytics data using Google Analytics 360 or Adobe Analytics.
- Experience in motion graphics creation using Adobe After Effects or similar tools to enhance visual storytelling on websites.
- Ability to conduct user research to inform design decisions that improve usability and accessibility for diverse audiences.
- Excellent communication skills to collaborate effectively with designers, developers, marketers, and stakeholders at all levels.
