Compensation: Antioch University offers a competitive compensation and benefits package. Salary range for this position is $72,000.00 - $76,000.00, based on experience, education, knowledge, and credentials.
Position Summary
The Web Architect drives the design, development, deployment, and maintenance of both back-end and front-end web applications and websites. This role supports the university's mission and strategic goals by collaborating with stakeholders, offering technical expertise, and ensuring web solutions are innovative, user-friendly, accessible, secure, and adhere to university standards and industry best practices.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
Web Development Efforts:
- Develop and maintain web applications and websites, incorporating new technologies.
- Participate in new web projects and the migration of existing features.
- Meet regularly with stakeholders and managers to review business and functional requirements, determining project scopes and specifications.
- Assist in coordinating web functions, monitoring web activities, incorporating new technologies, and enhancing existing websites.
- Work with, integrate, and manage third-party software as necessary.
Technical Expertise & Development:
- Design, develop, and optimize server-side logic, APIs, and database structures for high performance and reliability.
- Utilize technologies such as .Net or JavaScript frameworks to build secure and scalable systems.
- Write object-oriented code using programming languages like HTML, CSS, JavaScript, PHP, and Python, and frameworks such as React and Angular. (.NET and/or Colleague experience is a plus).
- Implement web, data, and back-end systems.
- Perform data transformations, including cleaning, aggregating, and reformatting API responses or datasets to meet application and database requirements.
- Maintain security for university web applications and database interfaces.
- Create and maintain web pages, templates, and update existing content, ensuring consistency and University brand compliance.
- Run functionality tests, debug code, and troubleshoot issues to ensure high quality and optimal performance.
Project Collaboration:
- Collaborate with designers, stakeholders, third-party consultants, and other university teams on front-end tasks to implement user-facing features, ensuring seamless integration with back-end systems.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to define requirements, troubleshoot issues, and deliver high-quality solutions.
- Communicate effectively with clients and team members, explaining complex technical concepts to non-technical individuals.
Documentation, Mentorship & Staying Current:
- Write and maintain clear documentation for internal teams and external collaborators.
- Ability to learn additional skills from other web developers.
- Stay up-to-date on emerging technologies, industry trends, and best practices in web development.
- Continuously improve systems and processes university-wide.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
Experience and Qualifications
Minimum Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Web Development, or a related field, or equivalent experience.
- 1-2 years of experience in web development and back-end development.
Technical Skills:
- Fluency in back-end languages such as PHP, C#, and .NET.
- Basic front-end skills (e.g., HTML, CSS, JavaScript, React) for occasional UI tasks.
- Proficiency in database management systems (e.g., SQL).
- Experience with version control systems, preferably Git.
- Experience with third-party API integration (e.g., REST, GraphQL) and handling authentication, rate limits, and error responses.
- Proficiency in data transformation techniques, such as parsing JSON/XML and data mapping.

Hours of Employment: This is a full-time position serving a national university. A work schedule will be established in consultation with the supervisor.
