Web and Digital Interface Designer
Location: APG, MD or remote
A Secret security clearance is required for this position.
This role involves comprehensive oversight of web design projects, from creative direction and project timeline management to developer collaboration, user experience (UX) assurance, and maintaining brand consistency across websites.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead creative direction and manage project timelines for web design initiatives.
- Collaborate with developers to ensure seamless project execution.
- Guarantee optimal user experience and maintain brand consistency across all web platforms.
- Execute bi-annual major design updates, incorporating 3D models and interactive technologies.
- Support ongoing website operations and maintenance, including system security, configuration management, and system backups.
- Provide web design and development services for CPE IEW&S communication and information platforms, encompassing complex coding, maintenance, analytics, marketing integration, and user education.
- Develop custom, uniquely tailored web products to meet specific organizational needs.
- Design, develop, and maintain custom websites and applications, including non-form-driven solutions requiring advanced programming in HTML5, CSS, JavaScript, Python, PHP, and SQL.
- Implement front-end user interfaces and back-end functionalities for both public-facing and internal websites.
- Offer limited graphics support for SharePoint pages and other internal content management systems.
- Utilize analytics and monitoring tools to assess site performance and user behavior, providing data-driven recommendations for usability and experience improvements.
- Build and support event registration and information sites with customized features.
- Ensure compliance with DoD and Army cybersecurity and accessibility standards for all web assets.
- Create technical documentation and configuration settings for web security, backup procedures, and site architecture.
- Provide backup support for digital and social media platforms, ensuring consistent messaging.
- Offer backup support for other graphics functions, including event photography and awards production.
Required Skills & Experience
- Advanced technical skills in responsive design, wireframing, and visual design.
- Strong communication and presentation skills for conveying design concepts effectively.
- Knowledge of web accessibility guidelines and best practices.
- Proficiency in web programming, server operations, and custom application development.
- Extensive experience in web design, including responsive design principles.
- Strong understanding of user experience (UX) design methodologies.
- Excellent visual design skills and meticulous attention to detail.
- Proficiency in design software such as Adobe Creative Suite, Photoshop, Dreamweaver, and PowerPoint.
- Expertise in web development languages including HTML, DHTML, CSS, JavaScript, and XML.
- Familiarity with operating systems like UNIX, Windows NT, and TCP/IP.
Education/ Experience
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Software Development, Graphic Design, Computer Information Systems, or Web Design.
- A minimum of ten (10) years of experience in conceptualization, layout, typography, photography, illustration, Web Design, animation, production, and prepress work.
- Includes five (5) or more years of professional Web development/coding experience in Photoshop, Dreamweaver, PowerPoint, HTML, DHTML, CSS, JavaScript, and XML.
- Substitution: An Associate’s degree and a minimum of twelve (12) years' experience in Computer Science, Software Development, Graphic Design, Computer Information Systems, or Web Design. Additional years of experience may substitute for the field of study.
