First Station Media is looking for a talented Website Hosting Specialist to join our growing team. Top candidates will be adept at managing websites and critical web applications and ensuring the availability and efficiency of system resources. Website deployment, maintaining system backups, and initiating updates regularly will also be regular tasks.
Duties and Responsibilities
- Learn about and implement new techniques and processes to provide high-quality hosting and server maintenance
- Perform frequent quality control checks
- Administer daily support of critical web applications, website maintenance, deployments, and system backups
- Ensure access security, testing, and integrity of web pages
- Determine sources of problems and the actions needed to correct those problems
- Create accurate and precise reports as needed
- Track, compile, and analyze website usage data
- Ensure effective disaster recovery procedures and defense against spamming, DDoS, and hacking issues
Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
- Experience managing WordPress sites and solving hosting issues
- Ability to access and manipulate MySQL and MSSQL databases
- Familiarity with WP Engine, GoDaddy, SiteGround, etc., and other web hosting configurations
- Superior knowledge in web hosting control panels like cPanel, Plesk, WHM, etc., as well as cloud hosting environments like AWS, Google, Digital Ocean, etc.
- Expert in DNS management, Cloudflare, and other CDNs
- Excellent knowledge in server/website migrations; server setup; hardening, tweaking, and other vulnerability fixes
- An understanding of content management services such as WordPress, Joomla, and Drupal, with the ability to navigate and edit
- Proactive attitude
- Ability to meet client-driven deadlines, research and develop, and resolve technical problems.
- Up to date with software and technologies
- Team-oriented with an ability to work on multiple projects simultaneously
Education and Experience
- Experience managing multiple websites and applications in both Windows and Linux server environments
- Experience in troubleshooting and resolving issues with WWW applications involving DNS, HTTP, HTTPS, and redirects
- 3 - 4 years of relevant work experience
- Thorough understanding of Linux and Windows systems
- Command line tools knowledge (ex. SSH)
- Familiarity with CSS, PHP, JavaScript, and jQuery
- WooCommerce or Shopify experience
