We are seeking a dedicated Junior Web Developer to join our remote team. This role is crucial for maintaining and enhancing multiple client websites by applying web development best practices. The focus is on delivering clean, efficient code, ensuring responsive design, and creating reliable, visually engaging web experiences.
This is a 100% remote position open to candidates located anywhere in the U.S.
Responsibilities of a Web Developer
- Implement website content updates and style modifications using the WordPress editor and basic coding skills.
- Install and configure WordPress plugins under supervision to expand site functionality.
- Perform routine website testing for cross-browser compatibility and overall functionality.
- Troubleshoot minor bugs and support general site maintenance tasks, including data backups.
- Collaborate closely with content creators and designers to ensure user-friendly and visually appealing websites.
- Serve as an escalation point for development issues within the support queue that require specialized attention.
- Act as the primary developer for maintenance and improvements on the Firegang.com website.
- Ensure accurate documentation of routine updates, maintain data integrity in Teamwork Projects and Desk, and meet all assigned task deadlines.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or a related field, or equivalent professional experience.
- Basic working knowledge of core front-end technologies: HTML5, CSS3, JavaScript, and jQuery.
- Familiarity with WordPress CMS, including content management, theme installation, and plugin configuration.
- Experience utilizing debugging tools (e.g., Chrome DevTools or Firebug).
- Basic understanding of responsive design principles, website architecture, and aesthetics.
Bonus Points For
- Familiarity with PHP and basic MySQL database concepts.
- A portfolio showcasing personal or volunteer WordPress development projects.
- Exposure to UI/UX design concepts.
- Basic knowledge of SEO best practices and web performance optimization.
- Awareness of web accessibility standards (WCAG).
