Development Team Lead

We are seeking a Development Team Lead to guide our expanding development team. This role ensures projects progress efficiently from initiation to completion with accuracy, quality, and robust communication.

Role Overview

As the Development Team Lead, you will serve as the liaison between our Development, QA, and Client Experience teams. Your responsibilities include ensuring efficient handling of client tickets and feature requests, verifying deliverables meet our standards, and maintaining team alignment with priorities and timelines. You will also participate in client calls to offer technical context, assist in scoping new requests, and collaborate with leadership on process improvements and product stability.

Key Responsibilities

  • Oversee daily development operations and ticket progress.
  • Collaborate closely with the QA Team Lead to verify data accuracy and design before deployment.
  • Establish and maintain clear project and task timelines.
  • Conduct code reviews and enforce coding standards.
  • Participate in client and internal meetings to clarify technical requirements and provide updates.
  • Mentor developers, verify hours, and offer feedback to enhance team performance.
  • Identify process bottlenecks and suggest workflow or tool improvements with the Product Manager.
  • Support best practices in deployment, version control, and documentation.
  • Assist in hiring and onboarding new developers.

Must-Have Qualifications

  • Proven experience as a Team Lead, Development Manager, or Senior Developer with leadership duties.
  • Strong client-facing communication skills, with the ability to explain complex technical topics clearly.
  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Data Analytics, Statistics, Information Systems, or a related field (or equivalent experience).
  • 4–5+ years of professional experience with relational databases.
  • Proficiency in:
    • PHP
    • MySQL or similar relational databases (complex queries, joins, CTEs, stored procedures, performance optimization)
    • JavaScript (ES6+ preferred)
    • HTML/CSS fundamentals
    • WordPress (custom themes, plugins, API integrations)
  • Experience building and maintaining dashboards/reports in Tableau, Power BI, Looker, or similar BI tools.
  • Strong understanding of database structures and relational data modeling.
  • Experience with ETL processes, APIs, or cloud platforms is a plus.
  • Familiarity with Python, R*, or SQL-based automation scripting* is a plus.
  • Strong organizational skills and ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.
  • Experience with Agile or Kanban workflows.
  • Familiarity with RESTful APIs and JSON data handling.

Nice-to-Have Skills

  • Familiarity with ServiceTitan, HouseCall Pro, or Workiz.
  • Experience with ticketing systems (e.g., Jira, ClickUp, or similar).
  • Familiarity with QA processes and testing automation tools.

Reporting Structure

This role reports jointly to the Director of Client Experience and the Director of Technology.
