Website Manager
Reporting to the Manager, Communications, the Website Manager is responsible for the daily management, maintenance, and continuous improvement of the Centre's website. This role ensures the website is accessible, visually engaging, secure, optimized for search engines, and aligned with the Centre's brand and communication objectives. Working closely with the Communications team, the Website Manager develops and maintains web content, supports digital campaigns, monitors website performance, and recommends enhancements to improve user experience and overall website effectiveness.
Key Responsibilities
- Manage, maintain, and update the Centre's WordPress website using the Divi theme and builder.
- Develop and publish webpages, landing pages, graphics, and other digital content consistent with the Centre's brand standards.
- Monitor website performance, security, functionality, and accessibility, ensuring timely updates, backups, and issue resolution.
- Implement and maintain Search Engine Optimization (SEO) and Generative Engine Optimization (GEO) best practices to enhance website visibility and performance.
- Monitor website analytics and user behavior using tools like Google Analytics and Search Console, recommending improvements based on data.
- Enhance website usability and user experience by applying UX and accessibility best practices, including WCAG 2.1 standards.
- Collaborate with Communications and program teams to support campaigns, events, announcements, and other organizational initiatives.
- Create and maintain digital graphics and visual assets for the Centre's websites and related communication materials.
- Coordinate with internal staff and external service providers for website enhancements and technical issue resolution.
- Maintain website documentation, standards, and content management processes.
- Manage and collaborate with IT on the design, enhancement, and maintenance of the Resource Inventory user interface.
- Add resources to the Resource Inventory CRM and online, ensuring active links.
- Stay current with WordPress, web design, SEO, GEO, accessibility, and digital communications best practices, applying them as appropriate.
- Contribute to the smooth operation of the Communications team and support other Centre initiatives.
- Understand and adhere to the social values and strategic objectives of the Centre.
Qualifications
- Postsecondary education in Web Development, Digital Communications, Graphic Design, Marketing, Computer Science, or a related field, or equivalent experience.
- Minimum five (5) years of experience managing WordPress websites in a professional setting.
- Proven experience with the Divi theme and Divi Builder is essential.
- Experience improving website performance through SEO, GEO, UX, and accessibility enhancements.
- Experience interpreting website analytics and implementing data-driven improvements.
- Experience creating digital graphics and visual content.
- Experience with CRMs (e.g., Airtable and SalesForce).
- Experience working collaboratively with multidisciplinary teams.
- Advanced knowledge of WordPress administration, plugin management, theme customization, and website maintenance.
- Strong knowledge of HTML5, CSS3, JavaScript, and PHP.
- Advanced understanding of on-page, off-page, and technical SEO.
- Proven experience with SEO tools (e.g., Yoast SEO, SEMrush).
- Understanding of GEO tools.
- Hands-on experience using Google Analytics, Google Search Console, and Google Tag Manager.
- Knowledge of structured data/schema markup and its implementation.
- Bilingualism (English and French) is required, with excellent verbal and written communication skills in both languages.
