Website Designer/Developer Intern (WordPress)
Work Right NW is a mission-driven company focused on improving worker health, injury prevention, and ergonomic solutions across industrial environments.
We are seeking a motivated Website Designer/Developer Intern to support improvements to our existing WordPress site, enhance functionality, and lead a website refresh that reflects our growing brand and content library.
This role is ideal for a detail-oriented designer/developer who enjoys both technical problem-solving and creative brand work. You will be responsible for improving site functionality, implementing SEO best practices, and helping us plan and execute a modernized site redesign. The position is remote, 10-15 hours per week, for a 3-month internship, with potential for extended project work.
Compensation & Schedule
- $25-$35 per hour, depending on experience. Please include your resume, portfolio (or sample WordPress sites), and a brief introduction along with your application!
- Remote, flexible hours within a 10-15 hr/week scope
- 3-month internship with possibility of extension or ongoing paid projects
Key Responsibilities
- Audit our current WordPress website, plugins, navigation, and user flow
- Troubleshoot and resolve functional or UX/UI issues
- Develop a proposal for a strategic website refresh (layout, navigation, user experience, visual enhancements)
- Implement approved updates and improvements
- Optimize site structure and content for SEO (on-page SEO, meta tags, speed, site health)
- Assist with page design, templates, and landing pages
- Ensure the site remains mobile-friendly, fast, and secure
Requirements
Qualifications
- Working toward (or recently completed) a degree in Web Design, Web Development, Computer Science, Digital Media, Graphic Design, or a related field
- Experience with WordPress (Elementor or similar builders)
- Strong understanding of SEO fundamentals
- Skills in HTML/CSS (JavaScript or PHP a bonus)
- Understanding of UX/UI principles and responsive design
Bonus experience (not required)
- Google Analytics, website accessibility, graphic design, or experience with digital marketing tools
