Quick Summary

Seeking a remote Full-stack Web Developer with 5+ years of web development and 1+ year of eCommerce platform experience, proficient in HTML5, CSS3, vanilla JavaScript, PHP, SQL, and API integrations (REST/SOAP). This client-facing Professional Services role involves developing and customizing Miva eCommerce storefronts, integrating with external systems, and managing projects, with a salary range of $90k - $115k annually.

Miva is seeking a Full-stack Web Developer with strong solution engineering skills and deep eCommerce experience to join our Professional Services team. This role involves development within the Miva platform, utilizing Miva’s server-side templating language (MVT), alongside HTML5, CSS3, and vanilla JavaScript. We emphasize engineering fundamentals, focusing on efficient server-side logic for dynamic content and enhancing storefront experiences with clean, well-structured JavaScript and CSS.

Beyond UI development, the Web Developer acts as a technical bridge, integrating Miva stores with broader business ecosystems. This includes crafting custom integrations with external APIs, from modern RESTful marketing platforms to legacy XML-based warehouse systems, without third-party library reliance. The ideal candidate will manage large-scale builds, ongoing maintenance, troubleshooting, and project discovery across multiple client accounts, demonstrating strong time management and focus.

This is a client-facing delivery position, not an internal product or R&D role. The Web Developer collaborates with Product Managers, UX Designers, and other delivery team members to translate business requirements into high-performing solutions within defined scope and timelines. As a key technical liaison, effective communication with clients, both written and verbal, is essential, along with the ability to translate complex technical concepts into clear, actionable guidance for non-technical stakeholders.

Things you will do:

  • Scope, estimate, and execute development tasks based on approved client requirements, SOWs, and service offerings.
  • Develop, customize, and maintain eCommerce storefronts using HTML5, CSS3, and modern JavaScript (ES6+ vanilla) within platform template and configuration layers.
  • Maintain deep platform knowledge to apply optimal store configurations within the Miva admin.
  • Develop and support integrations using platform and third-party APIs (REST and SOAP-based services) to connect Miva stores with ERPs, CRMs, payment providers, shipping systems, analytics platforms, and marketing tools.
  • Consume, map, and validate external data within eCommerce workflows, managing authentication, rate limits, and error conditions.
  • Troubleshoot and resolve frontend, backend, and configuration issues within the eCommerce platform and connected systems.
  • Optimize storefront performance, focusing on Core Web Vitals, SEO, accessibility, and eCommerce conversion metrics.
  • Ensure cross-browser and cross-device compatibility using a mobile-first approach.
  • Configure full-funnel eCommerce analytics and GA4 tracking using GTM.
  • Develop optimized purchase flows to improve usability, accessibility, speed, and conversion performance.
  • Implement merchandising solutions for cross-selling, dynamic product listings, and personalization.
  • Configure rule-based promotions and discounts.
  • Apply eCommerce-specific SEO best practices, including schema markup, product metadata optimization, faceted navigation handling, and crawlability.
  • Write clean, maintainable, and well-documented code following established standards.
  • Participate in code reviews, QA validation, and client acceptance testing.
  • Follow established deployment procedures, coordination processes, and release schedules across multiple client environments.
  • Collaborate with UX Designers, Project Managers, and other delivery roles to execute pixel-accurate designs and meet delivery milestones.
  • Track time accurately, provide regular status updates, and communicate blockers or scope risks proactively.

Things you will bring:

  • 5+ years of professional web development experience, with at least 1 year focused on eCommerce platforms.
  • Strong proficiency in HTML5, CSS3 (including preprocessors like Sass/LESS), and JavaScript (ES6+ vanilla).
  • Firm grasp of the Document Object Model (DOM) and its manipulation without libraries.
  • Working experience with PHP in a web development context.
  • Ability to write cross-browser compatible CSS without CSS-in-JS libraries.
  • Hands-on experience developing and supporting API integrations using REST and SOAP.
  • Experience with SQL-based databases such as MySQL or PostgreSQL.
  • Proficiency with version control systems and Git-based workflows.
  • Understanding of eCommerce performance optimization and SEO best practices.
  • Familiarity with WCAG accessibility standards and inclusive design principles.
  • Experience testing across browsers and devices.
  • Ability to work within defined scope, timelines, and platform constraints in a client-facing delivery environment.
  • Solid communication skills and ability to collaborate effectively in a remote, asynchronous team.

Bonus points if you have:

  • Experience implementing eCommerce storefronts on platforms like Miva, Shopify, BigCommerce, or Magento.
  • Experience integrating with external systems such as NetSuite, Salesforce, Microsoft Dynamics, or similar ERPs and CRMs.
  • Experience with build tools such as Webpack.
  • Advanced knowledge of Modern PHP and Laravel, focusing on MVC design patterns, RESTful API development, and scalable backend architecture.
  • Experience using containerization or local development tooling such as Docker.
  • Prior experience working in an agency or Professional Services delivery environment.
  • Experience using AI-assisted development tools.
  • Familiarity with Agile or structured project delivery methodologies.
