The Sr Full Stack Software Engineer develops scalable software solutions using various technologies and languages, including Java, JavaScript, HTML, PHP, and C#. This role focuses on a holistic software development approach, balancing user experience and functionality. Work assignments involve moderately complex to complex issues requiring in-depth evaluation of variable factors.

This is a remote position, but candidates must reside in one of the following locations: Chicago, IL; DC/Baltimore Metro area; Louisville, KY; or Dallas/Frisco, TX.

The Sr Full Stack Engineer participates in all stages of software development, encompassing front-end development, back-end development, database integrations, network and hosting management, user interface, user experience, and back-end server management. This role influences department strategy and makes decisions on moderately complex to complex technical approaches for project components, operating without direct supervision. Considerable latitude is exercised in determining objectives and assignment approaches.

Key Responsibilities of a Sr Full Stack Engineer:

  • Collaborate with a team of developers experienced in frontend technologies, distributed microservices, and full stack systems.
  • Work across Agile teams to design, develop, test, implement, and support technical solutions using full-stack development tools and technologies.
  • Utilize a cloud native stack, building on Azure, AWS, or Google Cloud Platform (GCP), and employing technologies like Kubernetes.
  • Write effective REST APIs and comprehensive technical documentation.
  • Develop automated test cases to ensure software product correctness, responsiveness, and efficiency.
  • Provide expert guidance to influence project, initiative, and maintenance technical direction during discovery, planning, and implementation phases.
  • Maintain modern development standards through best-practice approaches and development processes.

Use Your Skills to Make an Impact

Required Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science or equivalent combination of education and relevant IT experience.
  • 4+ years' experience in Python programming.
  • 4+ years' experience in software engineering.
  • 2+ years' experience in at least one of the following: Angular, React, or Vue.js.
  • 2+ years' experience in at least one of the following: Java or Node.js.
  • At least 1 year of experience with Microsoft Azure, AWS, GCP, or another cloud service.
  • At least 1 year of experience in building micro frontends and/or micro services.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Master’s Degree.
  • Advanced experience in Microsoft Azure.
  • Experience in building Domain Driven Microservices.
  • Advanced experience in building software with Cloud native technologies.
  • Experience in SASS, W3C Web Standards, Web performance, and Cross-browser compatibility.
  • Advanced understanding of web modular design patterns.
  • Advanced experience and best practices in Content Management.

Work-At-Home Requirements:

To ensure effective work for Home or Hybrid Home/Office associates, self-provided internet service must meet the following criteria:

  • A minimum download speed of 25 Mbps and an upload speed of 10 Mbps is recommended; wireless, wired cable, or DSL connection is suggested.
  • Satellite, cellular, and microwave connections can be used only if approved by leadership.
  • Associates residing and working from home in California, Illinois, Montana, or South Dakota will receive a bi-weekly payment for internet expenses.
  • Humana will provide telephone equipment appropriate for the position's business requirements.
  • Work from a dedicated space free from ongoing interruptions to protect member PHI / HIPAA information.
  • Travel: While this is a remote position, occasional travel to Humana's offices for training or meetings may be required.

The compensation range below reflects a good faith estimate of starting base pay for full-time (40 hours per week) employment at the time of posting. The pay range may be higher or lower based on geographic location, and individual pay will vary based on demonstrated job-related skills, knowledge, experience, education, certifications, etc.

This job is eligible for a bonus incentive plan, based upon company and/or individual performance.
