About the Role
As a SQL ETL Developer, you will be instrumental in developing and maintaining critical data pipelines. This position requires a strong understanding of SQL, cloud data platforms, and a commitment to data accuracy within the healthcare sector.
Key Responsibilities
- Collaborate with leadership to define pipeline specifications, then build and maintain SQL-based ETL pipelines supporting internal reporting and analytics.
- Write efficient, well-documented SQL queries for data extraction, transformation, and loading across systems.
- Perform monthly ETL and database maintenance for cloud-based data tables.
- Conduct data validation and cleansing to ensure accurate and trustworthy datasets.
- Troubleshoot and debug data issues within existing workflows.
- Partner with data analysts and business users to translate reporting needs into effective data solutions.
- Document ETL processes, data sources, and schemas.
- Participate in team meetings, sprint planning, and code reviews.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Business Analytics, Data Analytics, Health Informatics, Computer Science, or a related field.
- Advanced SQL skills, including complex joins, subqueries, window functions, and query optimization.
- 2–4 years of hands-on experience designing, building, and maintaining ETL pipelines in a professional environment.
- Experience working with large, complex datasets.
- 2–4 years of hands-on experience with at least one cloud data platform (e.g., Microsoft Fabric, Snowflake, Databricks, Azure Synapse).
- Intermediate Excel skills (formulas, pivot tables, basic analysis).
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
- Self-motivated problem solver capable of independent work and team collaboration.
Preferred Qualifications
Candidates with the following will be given strong consideration:
- Proficiency in Power BI or similar BI tools.
- Exposure to healthcare data: CPT/ICD codes, HEDIS metrics, NCQA reporting, or value-based care frameworks.
- Salesforce reporting and object development experience.
- Programming experience in Python, PHP, Java, or R.
- Familiarity with Epic or other EMR/EHR systems.
- Certified Healthcare Data Analyst (CHDA) certification or equivalent.
- Behavioral health or managed care experience.
Stretch Responsibilities
Beyond core ETL development, this role may also include:
- Data modeling and normalization on healthcare datasets for prospective clients.
- Backup support for data analysts on reporting tools.
- Ad hoc analytics support for clinical and operations teams.
- End-user technical support for clinical and operations staff.
