Role description
We are seeking a seasoned Principal Solution Architect with extensive experience leading ERP modernization and enterprise transformation initiatives. This role requires deep expertise in legacy Oracle/PL/SQL/PHP systems and modern cloud-native architectures, with the ability to translate business requirements into scalable technical solutions and provide hands-on architectural leadership.
What will you do
- Define and lead modernization strategies to decompose legacy ERP modules (Finance, CRM, Quotes, Inventory) into domain-driven microservices.
- Re-architect Oracle PL/SQL and PHP applications into scalable services using modern backend technologies.
- Design API-first and event-driven architectures using API gateways, Kafka, and RabbitMQ.
- Lead migrations from Oracle databases to modern platforms such as PostgreSQL, NoSQL, and vector databases.
- Architect cloud-native solutions on Azure (preferred), AWS, or GCP using Kubernetes, Docker, CI/CD, and Infrastructure as Code.
- Guide the adoption of AI and LLM capabilities in enterprise applications and workflows where relevant.
- Act as a trusted advisor to clients, support pre-sales activities, and mentor engineering teams.
- Provide hands-on architectural leadership by reviewing designs, challenging implementation decisions, and supporting critical technical discussions.
What we're looking for
- 10+ years of experience in software engineering, solution architecture, or technology consulting.
- Proven track record of at least two successful legacy modernization projects involving production applications, ideally built with Oracle Database, PL/SQL, and PHP or similar technologies.
- Strong experience in at least one modern backend ecosystem such as Java/Spring Boot, Node.js, Python, or Go.
- At least one project must include a gradual migration approach where the legacy monolith and new services coexisted, preferably using the Strangler Pattern.
- Strong experience with PHP and Oracle PL/SQL to understand and modernize the existing application stack.
- Deep expertise in microservices architecture, Domain-Driven Design (DDD), CQRS, Event Sourcing, and API-first design.
- Extensive cloud modernization experience, with Azure strongly preferred; AWS, GCP, or OCI experience will also be considered.
- Experience with Kubernetes, Docker, CI/CD pipelines, and Infrastructure as Code.
- Experience integrating AI/LLM capabilities into enterprise applications is a strong plus.
- Ability to lead technically without being a full-time developer, with sufficient depth to guide engineering teams and make sound architectural decisions.
