We are seeking a talented Senior/Staff Python Developer to join our engineering team. This role involves providing technical leadership while optimizing both web infrastructure and core CloudLinux features related to resource limitation (LVE - Lightweight Virtual Environment, MySQL Governor) and file system isolation (CageFS).

Responsibilities
Web Optimization:
- Develop and implement solutions to improve web server performance, request handling, and overall system efficiency, validating improvements using benchmarking.
- Configure, optimize, and extend web servers including Nginx, Apache, and LiteSpeed.
- Analyze and enhance the performance of PHP handlers and data transfer mechanisms for web request processing.
- Design scalable, high-performance web systems and infrastructure solutions.
- Implement robust security measures to protect against web attacks and strengthen web server security in production.
- Optimize MySQL and MariaDB queries, improve database performance, and ensure reliable administration for web applications.
CloudLinux Core Features Optimization:
- Maintain and enhance LVE (Lightweight Virtual Environment), focusing on resource limits, CPU throttling, memory limits, and I/O limits.
- Maintain and enhance MySQL Governor for database resource limitation and optimization.
- Maintain and enhance CageFS, focusing on file system isolation, user isolation mechanisms, and security boundaries.
- Design and implement new resource limiting mechanisms and isolation technologies for improved security and performance.
- Architect scalable, high-performance system-level solutions for resource management and isolation.
- Work deeply with Linux system internals, including system calls and system-level programming.
Cross-Cutting Responsibilities:
- Lead technical initiatives and propose changes to solutions and technical direction across web and core features.
- Optimize system performance through profiling, benchmarking, and algorithmic optimization.
- Ensure all technical decisions are data-driven, validated by concrete measurements and profiling.
- Actively contribute improvements to open-source projects and upstream codebases.
- Leverage modern AI tools and techniques to enhance productivity and optimization solutions.
- Mentor and coach engineers, conduct technical reviews, and establish engineering best practices.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams on technical strategy and roadmaps.
- Troubleshoot complex production issues related to web performance, limits, isolations, and system functionality, implementing long-term fixes.
Required Skills & Experience
- 6+ years of professional software engineering experience in Python.
- Previous experience holding senior, staff, or principal engineering positions.
- Expert-level proficiency in Python programming for web optimization, tooling, automation, and system-level tasks.
- Proven expertise in web performance optimization projects or solutions.
- Deep knowledge and experience with web servers (Nginx, Apache, and/or LiteSpeed).
- Experience optimizing PHP handlers and web request processing.
- Deep expertise in system programming and low-level system optimization.
- Strong understanding of Linux kernel internals, system calls, and kernel-space concepts.
- Experience with resource management technologies (e.g., resource limits, cgroups, namespaces).
- Comprehensive proficiency in Linux system administration, architecture, and optimization.
- High level of security knowledge regarding web attacks, isolation mechanisms, and general Linux security.
- Solid expertise in MySQL and MariaDB, including optimization and administration.
- Demonstrated data-driven approach using benchmarking and measurements to validate technical decisions.
- Experience contributing to public or upstream open-source solutions.
- Strong understanding of the network stack (TCP/IP and HTTP).
- Ability to design scalable, maintainable, and reliable systems at both web infrastructure and system levels.
- Technical leadership experience, including mentoring and driving engineering best practices.
- Knowledge of CI/CD pipelines and DevOps practices.
- Excellent communication and collaboration skills for a remote, distributed team environment.
- English proficiency at an upper-intermediate level or higher.
