About The Role
The Senior Web Developer will play a critical role in developing and maintaining our website infrastructure to advance the mission of clean transportation. This position will lead the technical vision for websites supporting our Incentive Management Group in addition to supporting new development projects across CALSTART and mentoring a growing team of developers. The ideal candidate has a passion for sustainable transportation solutions, capable of translating complex policy and program goals into effective, user-friendly web solutions. The Senior Web Developer will report to the Senior Website Manager and work closely with cross-functional teams to achieve organizational goals.
Qualifications
Education & Experience
A Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or a related field, and 7+ years of professional web development experience, with at least 2 years in a senior or lead capacity.
Technical Skills
- Front-End: Expert proficiency with modern front-end technologies including HTML5, CSS3 (Sass/Less), and JavaScript (ES6+), and experience with at least one major framework (e.g., React, Vue, or Angular).
- Back-End: Strong experience with a server-side language (e.g., Python, PHP) and an associated framework (e.g., Django, Laravel, Ruby on Rails).
- CMS: Extensive experience developing and managing websites on a modern CMS like WordPress or Drupal, including custom theme and plugin development.
- Database: Proficiency with relational databases (e.g., MySQL) and experience with database design and optimization.
- Leadership: Proven ability to lead projects, establish development processes, mentor a team, and communicate technical concepts clearly to non-technical staff.
- Problem-Solving: Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills with a proactive and results-oriented approach.
Desired Qualifications
- Experience in clean transportation technology industry or nonprofits.
- Experience with WordPress plugins and GoDaddy.
- Experience with a modern component library (e.g., Tailwind CSS, Material-UI).
- Experience with cloud services (AWS, Google Cloud Platform) and CI/CD pipelines.
- Familiarity with data visualization libraries (e.g., D3.js, Chart.js) and GIS mapping tools.
CALSTART values transparency and strives to provide as much information regarding compensation as possible. The complete salary range for this role is $85,000-$97,000/year. Pay is determined based on several factors, including but not limited to job-related skills, qualifications, experience, education, internal equity, and other factors relevant to the job.
