About Your New Role: Senior Software Engineering Manager
We are seeking a Senior Software Engineering Manager to lead and scale multiple high-performing engineering teams. This hands-on technical leadership role requires expertise in both PHP and Python environments, focusing on driving strong execution, accountability, and measurable business outcomes for mission-critical products.
You will thrive in a fast-moving, high-growth environment where speed, quality, and capital efficiency are paramount. We are looking for a performance-oriented leader experienced in scaling teams through rapid or hyper-growth stages, balancing technical excellence with predictable delivery. This role is ideal for a leader who can elevate technical standards, develop strong managers and senior individual contributors, and align engineering output directly with company revenue and operational goals.
Key Responsibilities:
- Lead and scale multiple engineering teams across PHP and Python tech stacks, ensuring high-quality, reliable, and secure software delivery.
- Own team performance, delivery predictability, and measurable outcomes tied to company objectives.
- Develop and coach Engineering Managers and senior engineers, building strong leadership bench strength.
- Partner closely with Product, GTM, and executive leadership to translate business priorities into clear technical execution plans.
- Drive architectural decisions, technical standards, and long-term platform scalability.
- Implement operational rigor around planning, sprint execution, incident management, and postmortems.
- Improve development velocity while maintaining system stability and performance.
- Recruit top-tier engineering talent suited for a high-performance, high-accountability culture.
- Establish clear metrics (delivery, reliability, quality, cost efficiency) and manage teams against them.
- Foster a culture of ownership, urgency, and continuous improvement.
- Takes on additional responsibilities and projects as needed to support the success of the team and organization.
What You'll Need for Success:
- 8+ years of software engineering experience, with 3–5+ years managing multiple teams or managing managers.
- Strong technical background in PHP and Python ecosystems with the ability to contribute to architectural discussions and technical direction.
- Experience leading teams in rapid growth or hyper-growth environments.
- Proven ability to scale engineering organizations while maintaining quality and delivery discipline.
- Performance-driven mindset with experience holding teams accountable to measurable business outcomes.
- Strong understanding of modern software architecture, APIs, distributed systems, and cloud-native environments.
- Experience driving operational excellence (SLAs, incident response, deployment pipelines, observability).
- Excellent cross-functional communication skills with the ability to influence at the executive level.
- Track record of hiring, mentoring, and retaining high-performing engineering talent.

Command|Link hires across various geographic regions, and pay ranges reflect the cost of labor in these areas. The base pay for this position ranges from our lowest to highest geographic region, based on factors like location, skill-set, experience, and qualifications.
