The successful candidate must possess strong experience with WordPress backend development, WooCommerce product management, Google Cloud Platform, API integration, technical SEO, structured product data, database optimization, and e-commerce automation.

This position requires a hands-on engineer who can independently diagnose technical problems, implement reliable solutions, and build systems that support product discoverability, customer acquisition, order processing, and long-term platform growth.

Key Responsibilities

1. WordPress & WooCommerce Engineering

  • Maintain and optimize the JLT WordPress and WooCommerce environment.
  • Develop, troubleshoot, and improve custom PHP functionality, plugins, shortcodes, and backend integrations.
  • Maintain compatibility with Elementor Pro and the existing JLT interface.

  • Configure secure Google OAuth authentication for the JLT customer and platform registration systems.
  • Establish reliable communication between WooCommerce, Google services, and approved third-party APIs.
  • Implement appropriate cloud infrastructure for automation, integration workloads, monitoring, and data processing.
  • Configure logging, error monitoring, security controls, cost alerts, and cloud performance optimization.
  • Maintain secure management of API keys, access tokens, and service credentials.

3. Google Search Console & Technical SEO

  • Audit and optimize the connection between the production JLT website and Google Search Console.
  • Configure XML sitemaps, robots.txt, canonical URLs, redirects, and indexing controls.
  • Diagnose indexing errors, duplicate content, crawl problems, and technical SEO issues.
  • Prevent staging and development environments from appearing in public search results.
  • Implement and validate structured data, including Product, Offer, BreadcrumbList, and applicable MerchantReturnPolicy and shipping information.
  • Ensure WooCommerce product titles, descriptions, images, availability, prices, and structured data remain consistent.
  • Improve Core Web Vitals, mobile usability, site performance, and Googlebot accessibility.
  • Coordinate with JLT's existing SEO plugin and eliminate conflicting or duplicate metadata.

4. Google Merchant Center & Product Feed Automation

  • Establish and maintain the connection between WooCommerce and Google Merchant Center.
  • Configure automated synchronization of eligible products using supported WooCommerce integrations or the Merchant API.
  • Map product identifiers, titles, descriptions, images, GTINs where applicable, brands, pricing, shipping information, availability, and variations.
  • Diagnose rejected products, missing attributes, feed errors, and Merchant Center policy or data-quality issues.
  • Configure product data updates so inventory and pricing remain synchronized.
  • Support Google free listings and readiness for paid Google Shopping campaigns.
  • Implement reliable reporting for product approvals, disapprovals, synchronization failures, and feed health.

5. Product Data Infrastructure & Automation

  • Improve JLT's Google Sheets-to-WooCommerce product import system.
  • Develop scalable processes for importing and updating thousands of products.
  • Automate product information validation, category mapping, attributes, variations, and image assignments.

  • Develop or configure reliable product synchronization for Google and other supported channels, including Meta and TikTok Shop when authorized.
  • Ensure accurate inventory, pricing, product availability, and order information across integrations.
  • Maintain appropriate separation of storefront checkout and marketplace-managed checkout processes.
  • Provide technical documentation for integrations and ongoing maintenance.

7. Security, Performance & Post-Launch Support
