About the Role
Liferaft is seeking a highly skilled and visionary Senior Software Engineer to contribute to the ongoing growth and enhancement of our customer-facing platform, which is crucial for protecting people and assets. This position offers flexibility as a hybrid role in Halifax, NS, or can be fully remote within the Eastern or Atlantic time zones in Canada.
Reporting to the Engineering Manager, this individual will play a pivotal role in advancing our sophisticated open-source threat intelligence platform. You will collaborate closely with engineering leadership and core product engineering teams to develop new features and capabilities across various domains, including data acquisition, data visualization, and comprehensive threat intelligence and management.
For this Senior Software Engineer opportunity, we are particularly interested in candidates with a strong focus on backend and data engineering.
What You Will Do as a Senior Software Engineer
- Collaborate with engineering and product leadership to architect, build, and maintain our customer-facing threat intelligence platform, ensuring alignment with customer and market requirements.
- Actively participate in standups, design and sprint reviews, bug bashes, and sprint kickoff activities for product releases.
- Continuously analyze and optimize our platform to guarantee an exceptional customer experience.
- Evaluate and propose new technologies and methodologies to ensure adherence to industry best practices.
- Leverage agile practices to foster collaboration, prioritize tasks, and maintain urgency for rapid development cycles.
- Develop and maintain scalable data ingestion and processing systems, ensuring reliable and efficient collection, processing, and availability of high-volume data.
Requirements
Key Qualifications
- At least 5 years of experience with Python, Ruby, Go, PHP, or similar programming languages for backend and API development.
- 5 years of experience with MySQL, PostgreSQL, or other RDBMSs, coupled with a solid understanding of SQL and database schema design.
- 5+ years of experience with JavaScript / TypeScript, CSS, HTML, browser security models, and browser APIs.
- Proven experience with React for front-end development.
- Experience with ElasticSearch or similar technologies is a plus.
- A creative problem solver who excels in collaborative environments and possesses a passion for continuous learning.
- A genuine passion for data.
- Truly passionate about agile development, iterative improvement, and delivering value early and often.
- Strong presentation and communication skills, with the ability to articulate complex technical concepts to both technical and non-technical audiences.
- Experience with PHP and Laravel is a plus.
