Full Job Description
Belhumeur & Co is initiating an ambitious, multidisciplinary, and revolutionary software development project. We are looking for someone with an 'entrepreneurial spirit,' who wants to build something, not just code, but contribute to bringing a product to life from A to Z.
In close collaboration with other team members, you will be the cornerstone of the project: you will map it, break it down into concrete steps, estimate necessary resources and deadlines, drive development, manage testing strategies, supervise super-users, and produce technical documentation. Over time, you will be able to develop your R&D team by surrounding yourself with junior or specialized developers to deliver specific functionalities.
What We Expect From You
- Be the technological lead for new software development (ownership)
- Analyze and plan a complex end-to-end software project with an emphasis on quality, security, and maintainability:
- Contribute to architectural decisions and propose improvements to reduce complexity and optimize user experience.
- Integrate web ergonomics principles into development choices.
- Rapidly prototype products using various methods.
- Perform verification activities including unit, integration, and regression tests.
- Develop and deliver clear, tested, and documented quality code (back-end and front-end) adhering to best practices and promoting project longevity.
- Coordinate, manage, and structure the acquisition, archiving, and hosting of primary data in compliance with personal data protection laws.
- Create and maintain technical documentation and user manuals, including software design descriptions and validation reports.
- Coach and support super users.
- Potentially mentor a small team of developers.
- Work collaboratively with a multidisciplinary team of professionals.
What We Are Looking For
- A Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or Software Engineering or an equivalent combination of relevant education and experience.
- Over 8 years of experience in Agile software development and tech project management.
- Strong proficiency in current or modern web technologies:
- Databases: SQL, MongoDB, GraphQL, etc.
- Backend: NodeJS, Python, Go, .Net, PHP, etc.
- Frontend: React, Vue, Angular, Tailwind, etc.
- Experience in analyzing data security and reliability requirements.
- Senior-level skills in back-end, front-end, and database development.
- High autonomy and technical rigor, with a rapid self-learning ability.
- An understanding of AI fundamentals and the ability to thoughtfully use it to enhance your work.
- A keen sense of priorities: you analyze, you decide, you move forward.
- A genuine desire to build a quality product that has a concrete impact on everyday life.
Assets
- Experience in projects involving predictive statistical models based on artificial intelligence.
- Experience with machine/deep learning platforms and interfaces.
- A somewhat entrepreneurial spirit: you enjoy pioneering as much as delivering.
- Knowledge of ClickUp, Slack, Notion, Apple environment.
Conditions
- Employment Type: Full-time, Fixed-term contract (12 months, strong possibility of renewal)
- Work Schedule: 35 hours/week
- Compensation: Starting from $85,000.00 per year
- Work Location: Hybrid remote in Sherbrooke, QC (Office in Estrie with flexibility for occasional remote work)
