Join the growing Beth Israel Lahey Health (BILH) team and make a difference in people’s lives. This role, reporting to the Manager, Software Engineering, focuses on developing, testing, updating, and supporting critical software solutions for BILH staff, clinicians, and patients.

The incumbent must demonstrate strong technical and problem-solving skills, ensuring business specifications and end-user requirements are met, and projects are delivered on time. This position requires the ability to work independently on development projects, provide effective peer support, and troubleshoot complex issues.

Primary Responsibilities:

  1. Demonstrate a solid understanding of cloud services, platforms, and best development practices (essential).
  2. Design, develop, and maintain Java-based applications, ensuring high code quality, performance, and scalability (essential).
  3. Collaborate effectively with other team members on various projects and BILH initiatives (essential).
  4. Utilize proven experience as a Java Developer, supported by a strong portfolio of Java-based applications or projects (essential).
  5. Create timeframes and work schedules necessary to meet project deadlines (essential).
  6. Communicate effectively with clients and other technical teams (essential).
  7. Assist and train intermediate developers when necessary (essential).
  8. Provide thorough code reviews for intermediate developers (essential).
  9. Debug software and ensure all documentation is accurately updated (essential).
  10. Provide on-call support as required (essential).

Required Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, IT, or a related field is required.
  • 5–8 years of related work experience in software development is required.
  • Experience working in Windows and Linux environments.
  • Experience with more than one programming language, such as: Java, Python, C#, ASP.NET, PHP, or JavaScript.
  • Experience utilizing AWS and Google Cloud Platform services.
  • Knowledge of relational database systems; SQL experience is a plus.
  • Advanced technical computer skills specific to the functional area and related systems required for technical support.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience with various SDLC methodologies.
  • Experience developing software within the healthcare space.
  • Experience with Electronic Health Record (EHR) systems, such as Epic or Athena.

  • Customer Service: Ability to provide a high level of customer service and staff training to meet customer service standards and expectations. Resolves service issues in a timely and respectful manner.

Social/Environmental Requirements:

  • Work requires close attention to task for accurate completion. Intermittent breaks do not compromise the work.
  • Work requires constant response to changing circumstances and using new information to adjust approach and quickly respond to new needs.
  • No substantial exposure to adverse environmental conditions.

Physical Requirements:

Pay Range:

$100,006.00 USD – $134,595.00 USD

The listed pay range is the annual base salary range the organization expects to pay. Actual compensation is determined based on factors including seniority, education, training, relevant experience, certifications, geography, job responsibilities, or other applicable factors permissible by law.
