About the Job: Senior Full Stack Developer
Join a dynamic, small web-based software development team, collaborating closely with marketing and special projects. This Senior Full Stack Developer role is crucial for the success of Perennia’s products and services, supporting Nova Scotia’s agriculture, seafood, and food processing industries.
As a vital member of our crown corporation, you will develop new online website portals and applications. You will also support the redesign, refinement, and continuous improvement of existing products, always with the end user in mind. Key products include:
- Farm Data Tools
- Perennia Academy
- Coast to Classroom
- The Canadian Atlantic Shellfish Health Network
- An internal client information and metric tracking online database
- Support for our main website undergoing a major overhaul (www.perennia.ca)
This is a remote position. Work hours are Monday to Friday, 8:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m., with occasional evening and weekend work for client access issues or troubleshooting.

What you’ll do
- Develop, test, and maintain clean, scalable internal and client-facing full stack solutions that meet technical and business requirements.
- Work on existing code and develop back-end and front-end integration with databases to optimize data flow.
- Support global payment deployment in a web environment.
- Build front-end applications based on branded designs, collaborating with the marketing team and considering external and internal end-user needs.
- Collaborate with all Perennia teams to design, define, and deploy new features.
- Develop back-end systems using Node.js, Php, Python, and .Net.
- Commit to finding simple solutions for complex problems whenever possible.
- Work closely with Perennia specialists, producers, commodity organizations, researchers, and government partners to ensure cost of production data supports farm business management, industry planning, policy development, and informed government decision-making.
What’s needed
The ideal candidate will demonstrate strong programming skills, attention to detail, quality coding practices, experience with current web-based programming technologies, and a team-oriented focus.
Specifically, we are looking for someone with:
- A degree in computer science, software engineering, or a related field.
- At least six years of relevant experience.
- Expertise in REACT JS, HTML5, CSS3, C#, ASP.NET, Typescript, JavaScript, jQuery, and REST API.
- Experience with code management reviews, repositories, and code merge processes such as GitHub and Jira.
- Familiarity with modern frameworks and technologies like React, Angular, and Node.js.
- Experience integrating applications with cloud platforms, particularly AWS.
- A keen understanding of the AWS environment.
- Strong understanding of the software development lifecycle (SDLC).
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills to determine solutions using available technologies.
- A collaborative working style.
- A detail-oriented professional who fosters collaboration and innovation within the project team, with a keen ability to understand how their work aligns with corporate business goals and operations.
- Excellent oral and written communication skills.
