The Opportunity: Senior Developer Advocate, Developer Relations
We seek a passionate Developer Advocate to join Cloudinary’s mission of empowering developers to build and deliver exceptional image and video experiences. Cloudinary is the leading image and video platform for the Web, prioritizing excellent Developer Experience (DX).
The Developer Relations team is looking for an experienced Senior Developer Advocate. This role requires a community-oriented, education-minded software engineer (preferably specializing in frontend web development) who will improve the DX of our platform while educating and inspiring developers through community curation and the creation/delivery of interactive content.
You will champion best practices internally and externally, enabling developer success with media technology across various ecosystems (frameworks, platforms, stacks) and implementation use cases. You will also support developers globally through our community program.
Key Technologies
- Web frontend languages and (meta) frameworks
- Potential backend languages/frameworks (e.g., Node.js, Python, PHP)
- APIs/SDKs for media management, CMS, DB, authentication, etc.
- GitHub, CodeSandbox, and related software management tools
- Trends in Generative AI for Developer Relations
Successful candidates are eager to build community via the new Cloudinary Creators Community program and are high-bar content creators with deep roots as software engineers. You must understand and empathize with developers, recognizing and proactively improving developer experience.
Job Responsibilities
- Build community awareness and engagement in the global Cloudinary Creators Community through active engagement and program curation.
- Collaborate closely with Product Management and R&D to provide input on product development decisions impacting developer experience.
- Create developer-friendly content, including blogs, curricula, and videos, often partnering with community members.
- Support Cloudinary’s presence at developer events via booth participation, speaking opportunities, or other engagement forms.
About You (Qualifications)
- 7+ years of experience in a DevRel or DevX role.
- Extensive history of building technical content, code samples, tutorials, and speaking at events.
- Comfortable building and working with global developer communities.
- Ability to create content without heavy reliance on AI, while leveraging these tools for productivity.
- Excellent writer and inclusive communicator.
- Engage with various developer communities through podcasts, events, streams, and social media.
- Experience working with internal product and engineering teams to shape development priorities based on developer feedback.
- Ability to collaborate effectively with other DevRel or DevX team members on joint projects.
- Comfortable analyzing and measuring the impact of your work.
- Clear cross-functional communicator.
