USA TODAY is seeking an accomplished and passionate Senior Developer to join our team. This role involves contributing to the development of next-generation web applications and platforms using cutting-edge technologies. The successful candidate will collaborate closely with the product development team throughout all stages of software development in a fun, challenging, and rewarding environment.

Requirements

We are seeking a strong developer with expertise in ad delivery and display to build advanced advertising platforms. Key responsibilities include supporting the national digital advertisement infrastructure, collaborating with product managers and designers to create revenue-generating products, integrating with Application and Product Development teams, and continuously incorporating modern technologies.

Qualifications

  • 10+ years of software development experience
  • Excellent skills in the latest JavaScript, HTML5, and CSS standards
  • Strong proficiency in Golang, Node.js, and PHP
  • Experience with Web UI/UX design implementation
  • Strong problem-solving and debugging skills
  • Ability to collaborate effectively in a team to solve complex problems
  • Capacity to quickly adapt and manage essential tasks as assigned
  • Passion for solving problems for users, advertisers, and publishers
  • Web Ad Tech experience, including Google Ad Manager and Prebid

Preferred Skills

  • Bachelor’s or master’s degree in a technical discipline, or equivalent work experience
  • Experience with Docker, Google Cloud Platform (BigQuery, DataStudio, Kubernetes) or similar cloud platforms
  • Proficiency in Database Technologies such as MySQL, MongoDB, Postgres, or NoSQL
  • Strong experience with GIT version control
  • Solid working knowledge of one or more Internet ad management or targeted marketing applications (e.g., Google Ad Manager, 24/7 Real Media, OAS, FreeWheel)
  • Rich Media Vendor technology experience (e.g., Sizmek, Celtra, Vindico, Pointroll)
  • Prior experience in the media or related industry is desirable

Responsibilities

  • Develop, test, release, and support Gannett advertising web frameworks, applications, and services
  • Collaborate with developers, designers, and product/business managers to create new features aligned with product roadmap and revenue goals
  • Perform thorough code reviews and recommend improvements
  • Stay informed about technology developments impacting product usability or potential
  • Proactively innovate, collaborate, and contribute ideas

The annualized base salary for this role ranges between $100,000 and $120,000. Base compensation is determined by factors such as market, education, skills, certifications, and experience. Variable compensation may also apply.
