The free guidebooks and comparison tables help more than 5 million readers monthly to make small and large purchasing decisions correctly in just two minutes.

In this responsible role (Remote or Hybrid), you will work closely with our Product Owners and Engineering teams. You will develop high-performance backend systems and API interfaces, actively contribute to architecture and design decisions, and work together with your team to ensure scalable, performant, and future-proof solutions.

Your scope of tasks is varied, ranging from the further development of our backend architecture and consumer platform, to technical planning and implementation of new features, code reviews, optimization of development processes, and the use of modern AI-supported development tools. You will have plenty of freedom to contribute your own ideas, help shape technical standards, and share your knowledge within the team.

Your Tasks

• Living teamwork: Together with our team, you work on exciting projects around our comparison portals. As a Senior Engineer, you coordinate closely with various engineering teams, develop high-performance API interfaces, and support your colleagues through technical exchange and mentoring.
• Further developing backend architecture and tech stack: You continuously develop our backend architecture and evaluate new technologies together with the team. In doing so, you help ensure the stability, future viability, and scalability of our applications over the long term.
• Further developing platform and systems: You work on the continuous improvement of our consumer platform and our product inventory system. In doing so, you place value on scalability, maintainability, and performance, creating sustainable solutions for our users and editors.
• Helping shape development projects: You support the technical planning and implementation of development projects and, together with the team, ensure high-quality, sustainable solutions. You actively contribute your own ideas and optimization suggestions.
• Taking on technical responsibility: You bring your experience into technical decisions, develop sustainable solutions for product improvements together with the team, and take responsibility for demanding backend components.
• Ensuring quality and sharing knowledge: You conduct code reviews, give constructive feedback, and support your colleagues with technical questions. Together, you further develop best practices and ensure high code quality.
• Profitable use of AI in engineering: You use modern AI-assisted development tools to make implementation, testing, documentation, and code reviews more efficient. Together with the team, you establish best practices and continuously develop the use of AI.
• Interdisciplinary collaboration: In close coordination with our Product Owners, you implement new features and bring technical ideas into product development early on. Furthermore, you work closely with other engineering teams and develop sustainable technical solutions together.

Your Profile

• Your background: You have completed a degree in computer science, completed IT training (e.g., as an IT specialist), or have a comparable qualification.
• Your experience: You bring at least five years of experience in developing complex backend applications. In the past two years, you have worked intensively with PHP and know the challenges of modern web applications.
• Object-oriented software development: You have sound experience in object-oriented software development and confidently and routinely use proven design principles and best practices.
• Your know-how: PHP, MariaDB/MySQL, and RabbitMQ belong to your toolbox. Ideally, you also bring experience with Python, TypeScript, Linux, Docker, as well as cloud technologies such as AWS or EKS. Knowledge of monitoring solutions like Grafana as well as an interest in software architecture and modern DevOps practices round out your profile.
