We are seeking a highly experienced Senior Backend Engineer to join our dedicated Data Management Team within the Platform and UX Group. This team focuses on user-oriented initiatives designed to enhance data handling and reporting capabilities across the Supermetrics platform.

Key Data Management Initiatives

• Data Blending: Enabling users to join data from multiple Supermetrics sources into a single graph or table, eliminating manual data manipulation in destinations like Looker Studio or Google Sheets.
• Custom Fields: Allowing users to transform reporting data via saved, reusable custom fields.
• Data Source Account Management: Streamlining workflow by handling numerous accounts and creating custom tags efficiently.
• Data Explorer: Providing an intuitive, optimal UI experience for exploring data directly within the Supermetrics platform.
• Data Workflow Agent: Owning the end-to-end data fetching pipeline, guiding users through workflow setup (connecting sources, normalizing data, blending datasets, validating queries) via a conversational interface with live previews.

Project Scope

Each complex solution involves:

• Management tools (API endpoints and user interfaces).
• A tailored custom engine for specific project needs.
• Integration with the Core framework and all Supermetrics destinations.

Core Responsibilities

• Lead the planning and development of new features and functionalities for customers.
• Collaborate with product managers, designers, and stakeholders to define technical roadmaps, prioritize features, and estimate development efforts.
• Drive and enforce high code quality standards through rigorous code reviews, ensuring scalability, maintainability, and adherence to software development best practices.
• Mentor and guide team members, fostering continuous improvement, providing technical guidance, and enhancing team expertise.
• Proactively identify and address potential system bottlenecks, ensuring system stability, and improving monitoring and alerting capabilities.
• Utilize existing monitoring tools to maintain system stability and performance.

Required Technical Expertise (7+ Years Backend Experience)

• 7+ years of back-end engineering experience.
• Ability to architect, design, and build features from inception.
• Proficiency in conducting unit, integration, and end-to-end testing.
• Strong understanding of software design and architecture principles.
• Expertise in the software testing discipline.
• Experience handling large volumes of data.
• Strong understanding of security best practices.
• Experience collaborating directly with product teams and designers.
• Ability to interpret monitoring data using tools like Datadog, Kibana, or Grafana.
• Strong analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills (fluent in English required).

Key Technologies Used

• Languages/Databases: PHP, MySQL / PostgreSQL, Redis.
• Cloud & Infrastructure: GCP / AWS Clouds (e.g., Google Pub/Sub, Cloud Storage Bucket), Docker, Kubernetes, Terraform.
• Monitoring/Tools: Kibana / Grafana / DataDog, Git.

Nice to Have Skills

• Experience with Python.
• Experience developing AI agents or proficient use of AI tools.
• Experience with Kubernetes in a cloud environment.
• Experience safely modifying existing legacy code for performance improvements or new feature implementation.
• Experience developing and maintaining applications using the Symfony framework and its associated ecosystem (e.g., Doctrine ORM).
