This hybrid role focuses on tackling the challenge of AI-powered patch backporting within our Endless Lifecycle Support (ELS) offerings (TuxCare).
The ideal candidate will combine creative problem-solving with strong software engineering skills, exploring uncharted territory, rapidly prototyping ideas, and integrating successful concepts into production systems. Your work will directly influence the automation of patch management and vulnerability mitigation across large-scale systems.

Key Responsibilities:
Research & Innovation:
- Translate problem statements and hypotheses into concrete experiment plans, defining methods, tooling, and metrics.
- Execute lightweight experiments to assess the feasibility and value of new AI approaches.
Engineering & Integration:
- Implement research findings and seamlessly integrate them into the production system.
- Build and own evaluation metrics, automating them within CI pipelines to ensure comparable results.
Enablement & Acceleration:
- Ship production-quality Python tools/CLIs and small services designed to accelerate and reduce the cost of experimentation.
Collaboration & Communication:
- Document work thoroughly for future adoption and reuse.
- Maintain crisp written logs detailing experiments, results, and decisions.
Requirements:
To thrive in this AI Engineering role, candidates should possess:
- Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field.
- 3+ years of experience as a developer or engineering lead.
- Expert proficiency in Python.
- Hands-on experience integrating LLMs (via APIs like OpenAI, Anthropic, etc.).
- Familiarity with RAG, CAG, and agent-based approaches.
- Basic infrastructure skills: CI/CD pipelines, containerization (Docker), and testing automation.
Nice-to-Haves:
- Published research or significant experimentation experience.
- Data analysis skills and experience building evaluation metrics.
- Basic knowledge of C language.
- Familiarity with AI engineering tools (e.g., Cursor, WindSurf, aider).
