ASRC Federal Advanced Research LLC (AFAR) is seeking a Mid-level iOS Software Developer to join our Remote Monitoring and Logging System (RMLS) team, supporting the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA). This is a 100% remote position.
RMLS serves as the FAA’s logging system, recording maintenance work performed on facilities within the National Airspace System (NAS). It provides a rich database of unstructured text by reading every log file. The FAA recently deployed Apple iPhones to thousands of Airway Transportation System Specialists (ATSS) who maintain and perform corrective maintenance on NAS facilities. ATSS personnel are required by policy to record their maintenance activities as log records using legacy client-based applications.
We are looking for a highly motivated and skilled individual capable of working independently with minimal supervision, as well as collaboratively in a team environment. This individual will/may:
- Provide 2nd Level Engineering support.
- Provide expertise in software requirements analysis, design, design reviews, development, testing, integration, installation, and maintenance of complex computer systems.
- Provide expertise in the development and improvement of software development processes.
Citizenship/Permanent Residency Requirement
All candidates must meet the following criteria to pass the Federal Background Investigation and obtain the FAA Public Trust security clearance:
- Be a US Citizen, hold a US Green Card, or possess a Non-immigrant Work Authorization (VISA).
- Have resided in the US for the last three (3) consecutive years.
- The company is unable to sponsor candidates at this time.
- Possess a RealID Driver’s License/ID or a current US Passport.
Education & Experience Requirement
All non-US Degrees must include a US Equivalency Certificate provided by the candidate.
- Bachelor of Science in Computer Science or Mathematics, or a Bachelor’s degree in another technical field with a minimum of thirty (30) semester hours in a combination of mathematics, statistics, and computer science.
- Six (6) to Nine (9) years of related work experience.
Required Skills
- Experience/knowledge in:
- iOS software development kit (SDK); Apple iPhone applications.
- C#, .NET, React Native, JavaScript, AJAX, Web Services, and Oracle's PL/SQL.
- Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook, and Teams).
- Ability to:
- Work independently, as well as on a team.
- Learn on the job and be self-motivated.
- Take ownership of various initiatives.
- Troubleshoot and isolate defects.
- Communicate effectively through verbal and written communication.

Essential Daily Job Duties
- Provide 2nd Level Engineering support for RMLS.
- Collaborate with agile teams to develop, execute, and maintain systems in alignment with FAA requirements.
- Develop new mobile technology and modify the structure of existing software products to ensure the legacy applications remain functionally compatible with new products deployed in a phased approach.
- Review and comment on system engineering, requirement, testing and training documents.
- Attend/Lead meetings, such as design reviews, working groups, and briefings.
- Report issues and provide recommended solutions.
