Responsibilities
The IT Systems Engineer is responsible for implementing, managing, and supporting enterprise print security solutions to ensure secure document workflows and maintain compliance with organizational standards.
Key Responsibilities:
- Deploy and maintain secure print management systems, including PaperCut, Vaison, WebJet Admin, PPME, and HP Security Manager.
- Configure and troubleshoot print servers, print queues, and network printing protocols.
- Implement robust authentication and access controls within print environments.
- Ensure secure transmission and encryption of all print data.
- Collaborate closely with IT security teams to meet critical compliance requirements (HIPAA, GDPR).
- Automate print-related tasks efficiently using scripting languages such as PowerShell and Python.
- Develop documentation, provide necessary training, and offer technical support for all print security solutions.
Required Skills & Experience:
- Strong foundational knowledge of Windows Server, Active Directory, and Group Policy management.
- Familiarity with core network protocols (TCP/IP, DNS, DHCP) and print protocols (IPP, LPR/LPD).
- Proven experience utilizing TLS/SSL encryption and secure authentication methods.
- Proficiency in scripting (PowerShell, Python).
- Excellent problem-solving abilities and strong communication skills.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience with specific print management platforms (PaperCut, Vaison, WebJet Admin, PPME, and HP Security Manager).
- Relevant certifications such as CompTIA Security+ or Microsoft Server Administration.
- Knowledge of compliance frameworks related to document security.
- Experience with Identity Management systems (Active Directory, Azure AD/Entra).
- Experience working with Virtualization Platforms (VMWare).
Qualifications
A Bachelor’s degree combined with training or experience in IT technology; OR an Associate degree plus 3 years of demonstrated technical experience. A high school diploma coupled with 5 years of demonstrated IT technical experience at a large, complex organization like Mayo may be considered in lieu of a degree.
Experience working in healthcare technology is preferred. A Bachelor’s degree in computer science, information systems, engineering, or a related field is beneficial; a Master’s degree in a relevant technical discipline is helpful. Certifications such as MCSE, CCNA, or other IT-related certifications are valued. Qualified candidates should possess knowledge of system design principles, software development methodologies, project management methodologies, and some computer programming and/or system support experience. Exposure to managing both custom developed and vendor-supplied applications is helpful.
Advanced knowledge of multiple operating systems, including configuration, internals, and maintenance processes. A working knowledge of the following is preferred:
- Client/Server application architecture and Clustering.
- VB and scripting tools.
- Database systems: MS SQL Server, Oracle, My SQL, DB2 or Sybase.
- Web Architecture including HTML, JavaScript, Active Server Pages (ASP), PHP.
- Network topologies and protocols (e.g., IEEE 802.3, 802.11a/b/g, 802.1x, TCP/IP).
- Storage environments: SAN, NAS, and virtualized storage.
Proficient verbal and written communication skills using English are required. Experience in system hardware design, ordering, configuration, testing, and implementation of large projects is also valued.
Compensation and Employment Details
- Exemption Status: Exempt
- Compensation Detail: $82,555 - $115,606 / year
- Benefits Eligible: Yes
- Schedule: Full Time (80 Hours/Pay Period)
- Schedule Details: Monday - Friday Days. This position is 100% remote within the United States, though the incumbent may be asked to come onsite once a month for IT Culture and Connect activities.
- Weekend Schedule: Limited weekend requirements due to project needs.
