About This Role
Lightstream is seeking a motivated Front-End Developer to code pixel-perfect websites primarily within WordPress using our custom themes. You will leverage your programming language expertise to develop user-friendly, responsive websites, conduct code accuracy tests, and ensure WCAG (2.2) compliance. You will collaborate with the UI/UX designer, bridging graphic design and technical implementation, influencing both the application's appearance and functionality.
Responsibilities
- Develop and maintain WordPress websites using custom themes and plugins that meet design specifications and performance standards.
- Translate Figma designs into responsive, pixel-perfect, and accessible front-end code (HTML, CSS/SASS, JavaScript).
- Collaborate with designers and project managers to ensure the final product aligns with client expectations.
- Implement SEO best practices and ensure all websites are optimized for speed, performance, and search visibility.
- Ensure WCAG 2.2 accessibility compliance and test across modern browsers and devices for consistency and usability.
- Maintain and update existing websites, troubleshoot bugs, and improve functionality or security when needed.
- Integrate third-party APIs and tools, such as marketing platforms, CRMs, or analytics.
- Manage WordPress back-end components, including custom post types, taxonomies, and advanced custom fields (ACF).
- Coach and mentor a junior developer, providing guidance on coding standards, problem-solving, and best practices in WordPress development.
- Contribute to continuous improvement, sharing ideas to streamline processes and enhance the user and developer experience.
Core Technical Skills Required
- Expert in WordPress CMS (theme development and custom builds)
- HTML5, CSS3, Sass/SCSS, JavaScript, jQuery
- Working knowledge of PHP
- Experience with Bootstrap 5+ or comparable frameworks
- Understanding of WCAG 2.2 accessibility standards
Beneficial to Have
- Experience with ACF Pro, Gravity Forms, and custom post types
- Familiarity with Gulp, Webpack, npm, or yarn
- Experience building responsive HTML emails
- Basic knowledge of Git/GitHub and version control workflows
- Familiarity with VPS hosting and server management via WHM/cPanel
- Basic understanding of SQL and phpMyAdmin
