We particularly encourage applications from underrepresented groups. Please note: You must live and work within the UTC-01:00 and UTC+03:00 time zones. This requirement ensures efficient collaboration with our existing team members in these zones.
Don't hesitate to apply if you don't meet 100% of the requirements. Superheroes don't exist. People with passion and talent do!
People Skills:
- Protect our company values both internally and externally, politely addressing instances where they are not upheld. Embrace diversity, inclusivity, and equality.
- Communicate clearly, adapting your message to your audience. Respectfully challenge unrealistic deadlines and risky shortcuts. Provide honest, constructive, and actionable feedback to others.
- Proactively seek information, critically evaluate your findings, and don't hesitate to ask questions. Document everything, including the 'why,' to ensure universal understanding.
- Integrate into existing teams, building trust through active listening and delivering value where needed. Mentor and coach others to help them achieve excellence.
- Strive to expand your knowledge, both technical and non-technical. Enjoy sharing your expertise with colleagues and the wider community through various channels (blogging, presentations, group discussions, etc.).
- Work independently and efficiently, while also thriving in a team environment. Fulfill commitments, take ownership, and manage your time effectively in a flexible setting.
Technical Skills:
- Possess deep expertise in one or more of our core stacks: PHP (mostly Laravel), Python (Django, FastAPI), or JavaScript (React, Next.js). Be comfortable working across back-end, front-end, and infrastructure.
- Ability to take a business problem, engage with stakeholders, and own the solution from ideation to release. Engineer products, not just tickets.
- Proficient in writing modern, high-quality code, and capable of directing agentic coding tools to produce it. Only ship code you can confidently defend.
- Deliver at speed by frequently shipping small increments. Run work in parallel, leveraging agentic development where possible.
- Make architectural, infrastructure, and technology choices that are appropriate for the problem, including at scale.
- Build and maintain foundational elements that enable both humans and agents to move quickly without introducing issues: quality guardrails (testing, static analysis), delivery pipelines (CI/CD, feature flags), and observability. Transform recurring tasks into reusable, version-controlled skills and tooling for your agents.
- Skilled in software archaeology: delve into undocumented legacy code to uncover and document hidden business logic. Migrate codebases incrementally without disrupting business operations.
- Committed to leaving things better than you found them and driving initiatives to reduce technical debt. Understand which debt requires immediate attention and which can wait.
Bonus Points:
- Experience in product/SaaS startup and scale-up environments.
- Experience with data engineering work: pipelines, warehouses, analytics, or machine learning. Our clients increasingly possess unused data, and you know how to leverage it.
- Enjoy sharing your insights publicly, whether through writing or presentations.
- Contribute or have contributed to open-source software.
What We Offer:
- (Individuals outside Belgium will work as subcontractors; those in Belgium will be on our payroll).
- Remuneration competitive with the team and commensurate with your experience.
- Truly flexible working conditions tailored to your personal life.
- 25 paid holidays (20 of your choice, plus the week between Christmas and New Year) + 10 National holidays.
- A yearly company retreat.
- A global team of enthusiastic colleagues!
- Ten percent of your time dedicated to expanding company knowledge, experimenting, or co-creating.
If this opportunity resonates with you, please don't hesitate to hit the 'Apply' button.
The Process:
If you pass the CV screening, you will have an initial video interview with a non-technical recruiter from madewithlove. Selected candidates will then receive a technical challenge. The final round involves an interview with the madewithlove management team.
Good luck!
