This is a remote position, open to candidates based anywhere in the United States or Canada.
Calix is seeking a Tools and Services Intern to join our Engineering Operations Team for the summer. This unique, award-winning program offers opportunities to acquire new skills through training and hands-on learning. The internship is expected to last 90 days.
In this role, you will collaborate with senior engineers to enhance and expand automations implemented by the Engineering Operations - Tools and Services team. This may involve developing scripts in Python, PHP, or redesigning front-end interfaces using JavaScript and NodeJS. Your contributions will support various teams in their daily development and testing activities.
Responsibilities and Duties
- Work with our Software Configuration Management (SCM) team to support ongoing projects and initiatives.
- Assist in the development and maintenance of tools and systems.
- Add new features to existing frameworks.
- Create necessary accompanying technical documentation.
- Collaborate with team members to identify and resolve problems.
- Automate repetitive tasks using scripts and internal tools.
Qualifications
- Currently enrolled in a Bachelor's Degree program majoring in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field. Preference will be given to students who have completed their Junior or Senior years and possess previous internship or work experience.
- Knowledge of Python, PHP, C/C++ or Java, MySQL, JavaScript.
- Familiarity with Linux and Windows OS.
- Familiarity with source control applications such as GIT.
- Strong organizational skills.
- Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to work effectively in a team environment.
- Strong communication skills and excellent telephone presence.
- Ability to work for the complete summer break (May - August or June - September).
The base pay range for this position varies based on geographic location. More information about the pay range specific to candidate location and other factors will be shared during the recruitment process. Individual pay is determined based on location of residence and multiple factors, including job-related knowledge, skills, and experience.
San Francisco Bay Area: 27.60 - 34.50 USD Hourly
All Other US Locations: 24.00 - 30.00 USD Hourly
