Description

SAIC is seeking a DevOps Software Engineer with expertise in CI/CD (Continuous Integration / Continuous Development). This is a fully remote position.

As a senior member of the software engineering and DevOps team, you will own and enhance CI/CD pipelines and delivery processes across the full software development lifecycle. You will collaborate with development, QA, and operations teams to design, implement, and maintain automated, reliable, and scalable build, test, integration, and deployment workflows. Utilize agile methodologies to enable fast, secure, and high-quality software releases, including automated testing, artifact management, and production deployments.

Analyze and optimize pipeline performance, troubleshoot integration and deployment issues, and implement best practices for version control, branching strategies, and Infrastructure as Code (IaC). Develop and maintain scripts, tools, and configurations to automate processes across cloud and containerized environments, ensuring compliance, security, and observability in deployments.

Qualifications

BASIC QUALIFICATIONS:

  • 10+ years of experience in software development, DevOps, or infrastructure engineering with a significant focus on CI/CD and automation, or a Bachelor's degree with six or more years of related experience.
  • Experience working on an agile software team, including participation in sprints, stand-ups, and retrospectives.
  • DoD 8570 certification in IAT Level II (e.g., CompTIA Security+ CE, CompTIA CySA+, CompTIA SSCP, Cisco CCNA Security, EC-Council CND, GIAC GICSP, GIAC GSEC) or the ability to obtain within 90 days.
  • Strong experience working in cloud environments (e.g., AWS, Azure, or GCP).
  • Hands-on experience with Docker and containerized applications, including container orchestration basics (e.g., Kubernetes preferred but not required).
  • Deep experience designing, implementing, and maintaining CI/CD pipelines using GitLab CI/CD (or similar tools like Jenkins, GitHub Actions, Azure Pipelines).
  • Proficiency in scripting and automation (e.g., Bash, Python, Groovy, or similar) for pipeline development and tooling.
  • Experience with version control systems (Git) and branching strategies in a collaborative environment.
  • US Citizen and active Secret Clearance.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:

  • AWS DevOps Engineer certification (or equivalent in Azure/GCP DevOps).
  • Experience with Infrastructure as Code (IaC) tools such as Terraform, Ansible, or CloudFormation.
  • Advanced knowledge of monitoring, logging, and observability tools integrated into CI/CD (e.g., Prometheus, ELK stack, Datadog).
  • Familiarity with automated testing frameworks and integration into pipelines (unit, integration, security scanning, performance).
  • Experience supporting deployments in regulated or secure environments (e.g., DoD, government systems).
  • Familiarity with tools such as GitLab Runners, ArgoCD, Helm, or similar for advanced deployment automation.
  • Background in PHP-based applications or Learning Management Systems (LMS)/Learning Record Stores (LRS) is a plus but not required.

Target salary range: $120,001 - $160,000. The estimate displayed represents the typical salary range for this position based on experience and other factors.
