About the Role: Data Visualization and Application Development Internship (Summer 2026)
This is a 12-week internship opportunity running from June through August 2026. Resume review will commence in February 2026.
The Data Visualization and Application Development (DVAD) group, part of Quantitative Sciences & Development Operations (QSDO), develops custom tools essential for supporting clinical trials. This team manages extensive operational data collected from various internal applications, including project assignments, programming resourcing, invoicing, and project milestones.
What You’ll Do: Data Science & Visualization Responsibilities
As a Data Visualization Intern, your responsibilities will include:
- Integrating data from multiple internal sources.
- Analyzing complex datasets to identify patterns and insights.
- Creating visualizations and dashboards for scientific or operational use.
- Utilizing programming tools (SQL, SAS/R, Python) for data processing.
- Collaborating closely with biostatistics, programming, and analytics teams.
Example projects may include:
- Integrating multiple operational datasets to build a visualization dashboard highlighting trends and insights.
- Developing an interactive analysis or visualization tool to support decision-making across clinical or programming teams.
Who You Are: Required Skills & Experience
- Experience manipulating and analyzing complex data from various sources to highlight patterns and relationships.
- Proficient in relational database structures and, ideally, SQL programming.
- Proficient in a statistical programming language such as SAS® or R.
- Proficient in a scripting language such as Python, PHP, PERL, or bash.
- Basic understanding of Applied Machine Learning techniques (e.g., linear regression, random forest, clustering).
- Experience or familiarity with visualization tools (e.g., Power-BI, Splunk).
- Strong critical thinking, technical, and analytical abilities.
- Strong verbal and visual communication skills.
- Strong desire to learn and motivation to complete projects.
- Ability to cultivate relationships with various functional groups.
Internship Eligibility Criteria
To participate in the Biogen Internship or Co-op Program, students must meet the following criteria:
- Legal authorization to work in the U.S.
- At least 18 years of age prior to the scheduled start date.
- Currently enrolled in an accredited community college, college, university, or skills program/apprenticeship.
Education Requirements
Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Data Science, Mathematics, Statistics, Computer Programming, or Information Technology.

Job Level: Internship
The base compensation range for this role is: $23.00-$29.00 per hour.
The actual hourly wage offered will be determined by the candidate’s current academic level and degree candidacy (including Associate, Bachelor’s, Master’s, JD, MD, PhD, and MBA programs) and will comply with local minimum wage requirements specific to the job location.
