What You’ll Do:
As a Core Developer, you will play a key role in designing, building, and maintaining software solutions that support the company’s operations and growth. This role involves collaborating with cross-functional teams, resolving technical challenges, and ensuring systems are efficient, scalable, and aligned with business needs.
While no two days are the same, here’s what you can expect from this role:
- Proven hands-on experience in software development or a related field; formal education or relevant certifications are an advantage.
- Develop and maintain the core of our platform using Ruby on Rails, MySQL, Sidekiq, RSpec, AWS, CI/CD pipelines, Docker and other technologies.
- Build well-optimized solutions with a strong understanding of "under the hood" mechanics.
- Design and implement APIs to build core integrations with third-party solutions.
- Work with existing design patterns and coding standards.
- Prioritize security in all development decisions.
- Bridge the gap between application development and DevOps.
- Drive to accomplish 100% test coverage in all work.
- Direct system testing and validation procedures.
- Oversee software programming and documentation development.
- Meet with departments or customers to discuss project status and proposals.
- Analyze information to recommend and plan new system installations or modifications.
- Collaborate with other developers, designers, and product managers to deliver high-quality products.
What we're looking for:
- Relevant work experience or a College diploma with coursework in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field is preferred.
- 3+ years of experience in Ruby on Rails development and ability to handle responsibilities at an intermediate to senior level.
- A strong understanding of Ruby on Rails, its core principles, and workflows.
- Strong background in directing system testing and validation procedures.
- Skilled at analyzing existing code to fix errors, improve performance, and adapt software to new hardware or UI upgrades.
- Experience writing programming project specifications and developing clean technical documentation.
- Experience designing, building, and maintaining scalable applications and APIs (RESTful).
- Proficiency in version control (e.g., Git) and knowledge of automated testing and continuous integration.
- Understanding of application clustering, load balancing, and high availability concepts.
- Familiarity with Agile and waterfall methodologies.
- Experience with AWS is a plus.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Effective communication skills in English, both written and verbal.
- Ability to manage projects, work independently, and collaborate within a team.
- Knowledge of additional programming languages (Java, PHP, Python) is a plus.
