The Opportunity: Business Intelligence Engineering Manager
You will serve as the manager and project lead responsible for modernizing our Business Intelligence (BI) and reporting infrastructure. This critical role involves leading the design, development, and delivery of the company's core analytics platform, data warehouse, and comprehensive business reporting capabilities.
You will manage the BI engineering team, establish technical standards for data modeling and metrics, and collaborate closely with business leaders across Sales, Operations, Finance, and Leadership to deliver accurate, timely, and actionable insights that drive strategic decision-making.
As the central authority for all business intelligence within Maddox, you will gain intimate knowledge of our operations, quantifying performance by collecting and integrating data from various management systems. Your contributions will directly enable smarter decisions, effective prioritization, and the celebration of company successes. You will empower colleagues to be faster and smarter through the data and training provided by your team.
Key Responsibilities:
- Lead the BI engineering team, setting clear priorities, standards, and delivery expectations.
- Act as a hands-on leader, providing mentorship and technical support when necessary.
- Design and implement systems and processes for change management and data pipeline observability.
- Focus on quality, longevity, and speed when creating views that simplify core business object querying and performance quantification.
- Prioritize and execute internal user requests for insights and provide comprehensive training on reporting tools.
- Manage modifications to data pipelines in response to API changes and troubleshoot/repair faulty data flows and reports.
- Provide training to internal business users on the proper usage of data and reporting tools.
- Troubleshoot data integrations from source systems as required.

Candidate Profile & Requirements
We seek a hands-on leader who excels at mentoring junior colleagues and interacting with key stakeholders, translating complex technical issues into simple, digestible explanations. You must be passionate about improving business efficiency and scalability, capable of quickly learning new technologies and business contexts, and maintain excellent attention to detail.
Effective communication via phone, email, and chat is essential for collaborating with our nationally distributed team. Comfort with abstract thinking and domain-driven design is highly valued, as is a preference for operating within a healthy team environment rather than as a lone wolf.
Required Skills & Experience:
- Proven experience as a manager of technical data or software-focused teams, preferably 3–5+ years.
- A technical or engineering degree is helpful, but not mandatory.
Compensation & Travel:
Pay Range: Starting at $140,000–$155,000 (wages and bonus), plus a comprehensive full-time benefits package averaging over $20,000 annually per employee.
Travel: This position requires quarterly travel to various Maddox facilities across the United States.
