About the Job

We are seeking a skilled Backend Engineer to design, develop, and maintain reliable, scalable, and high-performance backend systems and services that power our growing platform. In this role, you will be responsible for building robust server-side applications, designing efficient APIs, optimizing database performance, and ensuring our backend infrastructure can scale to meet increasing business demands. As a Backend Engineer, you will work at the heart of our technology stack, collaborating closely with frontend engineers, product managers, DevOps teams, and other stakeholders to deliver secure, maintainable, and performant backend solutions. You will be instrumental in architecting and implementing systems that support millions of transactions, ensuring data integrity, security, and optimal user experiences across web and mobile applications. The ideal candidate brings strong technical expertise in server-side development, API design, database management, and system integration. You should be comfortable working with modern development practices including automated testing, CI/CD pipelines, cloud infrastructure, and distributed systems. Responsibilities

• Design, develop, test, deploy, and maintain scalable backend applications, microservices, and APIs that support web and mobile platforms
• Build and maintain RESTful and/or GraphQL APIs with comprehensive documentation, ensuring optimal performance, security, and reliability
• Design and optimize database schemas, queries, indexes, and data-access patterns for relational (PostgreSQL, MySQL) and NoSQL (MongoDB) databases
• Implement secure authentication, authorization, and access control mechanisms including OAuth 2.0, JWT, and role-based permissions to protect user data and system resources
• Integrate backend systems with third-party APIs, payment platforms, external services, and internal microservices to enable seamless functionality
• Identify, troubleshoot, and resolve production issues, performance bottlenecks, and application bugs through systematic debugging and root cause analysis
• Develop comprehensive automated tests including unit tests, integration tests, and API tests to ensure code quality and system reliability
• Conduct thorough code reviews, provide constructive feedback to team members, and maintain engineering standards and best practices across the codebase
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams including frontend engineers, QA, DevOps, and product managers throughout the software development lifecycle
• Implement logging, monitoring, error handling, and observability practices using tools like Datadog, Grafana, or Sentry to maintain production system health
• Participate in system architecture discussions and technical design sessions to build scalable, maintainable, and high-performance solutions
• Support CI/CD processes and deployment workflows across development, staging, and production environments to enable rapid and reliable releases
