About the Role

The GEX technology team builds and evolves solutions supporting our operations, integrations, and digital communication strategies.

As a Backend and Integrations Developer, your mission involves developing robust, scalable systems for event processing, platform integrations, and customer journey automations.

We seek a candidate with a systemic vision, strong investigative skills, and production environment experience, capable of both building new solutions and safely evolving existing systems.

If you enjoy solving complex problems, working with distributed systems, and transforming manual processes into reliable automations, this opportunity is for you.

Your Day-to-Day Responsibilities

  • Develop and evolve systems for receiving, processing, and distributing sales and customer behavior-related events.
  • Build and maintain SMS and email communication automations, including cart recovery, post-sale, cross-selling, product replenishment, and promotional campaigns.
  • Integrate payment gateways, marketing platforms, CRMs, and communication providers using REST APIs and webhooks.
  • Design event-driven flows utilizing queues, retries, DLQs, concurrency control, deduplication, and idempotency.
  • Ensure correct processing of thousands of events, minimizing risks of duplicate messages, data loss, or improper communications.
  • Develop and maintain backend services using Go, PHP, Python, and other ecosystem technologies.
  • Safely evolve legacy systems, reducing risks and gradually improving their architecture.
  • Model data and develop efficient queries in MySQL and PostgreSQL.
  • Create automations for product curation, audience segmentation, and campaign selection based on priority and performance.
  • Implement reconciliation processes between received events, internal records, and effectively sent communications.
  • Monitor indicators like match rate, average processing time, latency percentiles, event volume, and integration failures.
  • Investigate production incidents and trace events across different services and external integrations.
  • Implement structured logs, metrics, alerts, health checks, and end-to-end traceability.
  • Create backfill, reprocessing, and controlled event recovery routines.
  • Work in containerized environments with Docker and application deployment/management platforms.
  • Support architectural decisions considering scalability, reliability, security, and operational simplicity.
  • Define technical standards, review implementations, and support the development of less experienced professionals.
  • Collaborate with Integration, Marketing, and Operations teams to transform manual processes into reliable automations.

What We Expect From You

  • Solid experience with backend development and production systems.
  • Advanced experience with Go or another high-performance backend language.
  • Knowledge of PHP, with the ability to understand, maintain, and modernize legacy systems.
  • Knowledge of Python for automations, data processing, integrations, and operational routines.
  • Experience with REST APIs, webhooks, and third-party service integrations.
  • Experience with event-driven architectures and distributed systems.
  • Proficiency in messaging, including queues, exchanges, retries, DLQs, acknowledgements, and concurrency control.
  • Knowledge of idempotency, deduplication, locks, and eventual consistency.
  • Experience with MySQL and PostgreSQL, including modeling, indexing, complex queries, and performance analysis.
  • Ability to diagnose production issues using code, logs, metrics, and data.
  • Experience with unit tests, integration tests, and asynchronous flow validation.
  • Knowledge of timezones, UTC, and temporal consistency in distributed systems.
  • Familiarity with Docker, Linux, and production environments.
  • Knowledge of Git, code review, and secure delivery practices.
  • Experience with observability, structured logs, metrics, alerts, and event tracing.
  • Ability to make technical decisions and conduct investigations autonomously.

Bonus Points

  • Experience with SMS sending platforms, email marketing, CRM, or campaign automation.
  • Knowledge of telephony providers and transactional messaging services.
  • Experience with payment gateways, purchase events, and sales recovery automations.
  • Experience with abandoned cart automations, post-sale, cross-selling, and segmented campaigns.
  • Experience with workflow orchestration tools and low-code/no-code automations.
  • Knowledge of managed databases, PostgreSQL-based queues, and serverless functions.
  • Experience with Prometheus, OpenTelemetry, Grafana, or equivalent tools.
  • Knowledge of deployment platforms, reverse proxies, and basic VPS administration.
  • Experience with CI/CD and deployment automation.
  • Knowledge of information security, data protection, and access control.
  • Experience with high-volume event processing.
  • Experience with architecture definition, technical documentation, and developer mentoring.
