WordPress Support & Maintenance Specialist (Contract, Remote)

Clutch Creative Co. is actively seeking a reliable and detail-oriented WordPress Support & Maintenance Specialist. This role focuses on providing expert technical support and ensuring ongoing maintenance for client websites. The specialist will manage critical tasks such as WordPress site migrations, routine plugin updates, comprehensive troubleshooting, and essential performance checks. The primary goal is to ensure all managed sites remain secure, stable, and fast.

This is a remote contractor position, starting at approximately 10 hours per week, with significant potential for growth within our creative agency.

Key Responsibilities:

• Migrate WordPress websites to our WP Engine hosting environment.
• Execute regular plugin, theme, and core updates, adhering to staging and backup best practices.
• Diagnose and resolve common WordPress site issues, including white screens, plugin conflicts, and broken layouts.
• Conduct health and security scans, providing actionable recommendations for site improvement.
• Address client support requests and implement change orders, such as content updates and plugin installations.
• Provide backup assistance to our lead developer for overflow development tasks.
• Contribute to documenting repeatable workflows and maintaining update logs.

Must-Haves:

• Over 3 years of hands-on experience with WordPress development and support.
• Profound knowledge of WordPress file structure, its plugin ecosystem, and industry best practices.
• Proven experience working within WP Engine or similar managed hosting environments.
• Demonstrated ability to safely update plugins/themes and effectively resolve compatibility issues.
• Familiarity with staging sites, basic version control, and fundamental PHP/HTML/CSS debugging.
• A clear, proactive communicator who can work independently and reliably.

Nice-to-Haves:

• Familiarity with DNS/SSL/domain management.
• Design awareness for minor frontend adjustments.
• Experience working in an agency environment or managing multiple client websites.
