WordPress Security Engineer & Backend Developer (Multisite Specialist)

We are seeking an exceptional Systems Engineer specializing in Security & WordPress Multisite for a 100% Remote opportunity. This role focuses on managing and protecting complex WordPress Multisite infrastructures hosted on NGINX servers.

Important: We are not looking for a web designer or a design expert. We seek a Systems Engineer passionate about defensive security, Linux server administration, and incident response.

Your Mission: To ensure the integrity and security of a network comprising hundreds of sites, dismantle massive malware injections, and fortify the system against recurrent attacks.

Key Responsibilities

• Auditing and Disinfection: Locate and eliminate backdoors, redirection scripts (e.g., lakns.com), and database injections (Elementor headers/footers) using WP-CLI.
• WordPress Multisite Management: Administer complex networks, demonstrating a deep understanding of subsite table structures (wp_X_posts, wp_X_options).
• NGINX Server Hardening: Configure robust security rules, manage file permissions (chmod/chown), and optimize the LEMP stack.
• Forensic Analysis: Investigate access logs to identify plugin vulnerabilities (e.g., File Managers) and prevent reinfections.
• Automation: Implement large-scale cleanups ("Scorched Earth" methods) and integrity monitoring systems.

Technical Requirements

• Education: Bachelor's degree in Systems Engineering, Computer Science, or Informatics.
• Terminal Proficiency: Advanced command-line usage with tools like grep, find, stat, sed, and awk for log and file analysis.
• WP-CLI Experience: Expert-level use of WP-CLI commands such as wp core verify-checksums --include-root, wp search-replace, and wp db query.
• Cybersecurity: Demonstrable knowledge in detecting obfuscated malware (e.g., eval, base64) and hardening sensitive files (e.g., wp-config.php).
• Security Plugins: Advanced configuration (beyond basic installation) of security plugins like Defender, Wordfence, or Sucuri.

Experience utilizing Anthropic's Claude for code analysis, troubleshooting, and technical task support is highly valued.
