Role Overview: Experienced WordPress Developer

We are seeking an experienced WordPress Developer to join our remote, full-time contractor team based in Mexico. This role involves supporting Arcadion’s internal websites, brand platforms, dedicated application sites, and customer projects. The ideal candidate is a self-driven professional focused on building secure, performant, and scalable web solutions in a fast-moving, multi-brand environment.

As a key member of the team, you will develop, maintain, optimize, and secure multiple WordPress environments for both internal and customer websites. You will collaborate closely with marketing, product, security, and engineering teams to uphold Arcadion’s enterprise digital standards.

Key Responsibilities

WordPress Development & Maintenance

• Develop, customize, and maintain WordPress websites for Arcadion brands, internal platforms, and customer projects.
• Build custom themes and plugins (or extend existing ones) following best practices.
• Ensure cross-browser compatibility, responsiveness, and mobile-optimized user experiences.

Performance, Security & Reliability

• Optimize site performance, page speed, and SEO technical foundations.
• Implement WordPress security best practices (hardening, updates, backups, access controls).
• Troubleshoot issues related to themes, plugins, hosting, and integrations.

Integrations & Advanced Functionality

• Integrate WordPress with third-party tools (CRM, marketing automation, analytics, APIs, SaaS platforms).
• Support headless or decoupled WordPress architectures where applicable.
• Support eCommerce platforms (WooCommerce) where required.

Collaboration & Delivery

• Collaborate with designers, content creators, and technical teams.
• Manage multiple projects and priorities across internal and customer environments.
• Provide documentation and handover for internal systems and customer deliverables.

Required Skills & Experience

• 4+ years of professional WordPress development experience.
• Strong proficiency in PHP, HTML, CSS, JavaScript.
• Experience building and maintaining custom WordPress themes and plugins.
• Solid understanding of WordPress architecture, hooks, and REST API.
• Experience with performance optimization, caching, and CDN usage.
• Knowledge of WordPress security best practices.
• Experience working in remote, distributed teams.

Additional / Beneficial Skills

• Node.js experience for backend services, APIs, or build tooling.
• React experience for modern front-end components, headless WordPress, or custom UI development.
• Experience with headless WordPress or decoupled front-end architectures.
• Familiarity with WooCommerce, subscriptions, or membership platforms.
• Experience with ACF, Elementor, Gutenberg, or similar frameworks.
• Working knowledge of Git, CI/CD pipelines, and modern development workflows.
• SEO technical optimization experience.
• Exposure to enterprise, MSP, or SaaS environments.
