Key Responsibilities:
- Develop and maintain custom WordPress themes focused on performance and long-term maintainability.
- Implement designs accurately from Figma, ensuring consistency across browsers and devices.
- Build intuitive editorial experiences using Gutenberg and Advanced Custom Fields (ACF).
- Ensure consistent adherence to accessibility (WCAG), SEO, and responsive design best practices.
- Develop simple custom plugins or extend existing plugins as required.
- Maintain high code quality by adhering to WordPress coding standards and utilizing Git-based workflows.
- Work within WordPress Multisite environments, managing shared themes, plugins, and configurations.
- Collaborate closely with designers and project managers to deliver complete solutions.
Required Skills & Experience:
- Experience developing custom WordPress themes and extending existing plugins.
- Ability to create Gutenberg blocks using Advanced Custom Fields (ACF); familiarity with native blocks is a plus.
- Good understanding of WordPress core concepts and APIs (WP_Query, wpdb, and the WordPress Loop).
- Proficiency in PHP and understanding of basic Object-Oriented Programming (OOP) concepts.
- Experience applying WordPress Coding Standards and best practices.
- Solid knowledge of JavaScript (ES6+) and working familiarity with jQuery.
- Experience integrating external services via REST APIs (primarily consuming endpoints).
- Ability to integrate and configure popular WordPress plugins (ACF, WPML, Yoast SEO).
- Ability to accurately implement designs from Figma, paying attention to detail and responsive behavior.
- Experience using Git and working with version control in team-based workflows.
- Basic familiarity with WordPress Multisite environments and WCAG accessibility standards awareness.
Preferred Skills (Nice to Have):
- Experience with modern build tools such as Webpack.
- Familiarity with Composer and dependency management in WordPress projects.
- Knowledge of CSS frameworks such as Tailwind CSS or Bootstrap.
- Experience using WP-CLI for common development and maintenance tasks.
- Basic understanding of WordPress performance optimization techniques (caching, asset optimization, Core Web Vitals).
