Web Designer & Developer

Job Summary

We are seeking a talented and innovative Web Designer to join our creative team. The successful candidate will be responsible for designing, developing, and maintaining engaging, user-friendly websites that meet our clients' needs. This role requires a strong understanding of digital design principles, interaction design, and front-end development, with an emphasis on creating responsive and accessible web experiences. The ideal applicant will possess a keen eye for aesthetics combined with technical proficiency in various web technologies and design tools.

Duties

  • Develop visually appealing website layouts using tools such as Adobe Photoshop, Adobe XD, Adobe Illustrator, and Figma.
  • Create wireframes and prototypes employing Axure, Balsamiq, InVision, and Visio to illustrate user flows and interface concepts.
  • Implement responsive web designs using HTML, CSS, SCSS, Less (style sheet language), Bootstrap, and other front-end frameworks like React and Angular.
  • Write clean, efficient code for front-end development while ensuring cross-browser compatibility and adherence to best practices in SEO optimisation.
  • Maintain existing websites through regular updates, content management system (CMS) integration such as WordPress or Drupal, and website maintenance procedures.
  • Conduct user research and usability testing to enhance user experience (UX) and optimise information architecture for better usability.
  • Collaborate with developers using Git, Node.js, Redux, PHP, MySQL, SQL, and SharePoint to implement complex functionalities and data-driven features.
  • Analyse website performance using Google Analytics and data analysis skills to inform design improvements.
  • Stay abreast of emerging trends in web design, interaction design, UX/UI principles, and new technologies to continually enhance the quality of digital assets.

Skills

  • Proficiency in digital design tools including Adobe Creative Suite (Photoshop, Illustrator, After Effects), Adobe XD, Adobe InDesign, Adobe Acrobat.
  • Strong knowledge of web development languages such as HTML5, CSS3 (including SCSS/Less), JavaScript frameworks like React, Angular, AJAX; familiarity with Node.js and PHP is desirable.
  • Experience with content management systems including WordPress and Drupal.
  • Skilled in wireframing and prototyping tools such as Balsamiq, Axure, InVision.
  • Understanding of UX/UI principles along with information architecture and usability best practices.
  • Knowledge of SEO strategies and analytics tools like Google Analytics for optimisation purposes.
  • Familiarity with version control systems such as Git; experience with responsive web design techniques across various devices.
  • Ability to conduct user research and utilise data analysis skills to improve website performance.
  • Experience with email marketing platforms like Mailchimp; knowledge of SCSS/Telerik/SharePoint is advantageous.
