Responsibilities
- Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams (product, data, content) to design, develop, and implement technological solutions.
- Participate in technical decision-making processes, contributing insights and best engineering practices.
- Build and maintain APIs, services, and integrations that support JOTA's products.
- Ensure the quality, performance, and scalability of delivered solutions.
- Foster a culture of continuous learning by sharing knowledge within the team.
Requirements
- Experience with back-end and/or front-end development in a production environment.
- Proficiency with Python/Django, PHP, RESTful APIs, MySQL, Git, and Linux.
- Strong communication skills and the ability to collaborate effectively within multidisciplinary teams.
- Passion for learning, knowledge sharing, and commitment to technical excellence.
Bonus Skills
- Experience with TypeScript and React (Next.js).
- Experience with microservices architecture and messaging (SQS/SNS).
- Knowledge of Docker and CI/CD pipelines (e.g., GitHub Actions).
- Experience with PHP/WordPress.
- Familiarity with observability tools (e.g., NewRelic).
- Involvement with the technology and open source community.
- Interest or experience applying AI/data to journalism or legal information products.
