We are building our digital products in a new, AI-native product team with five clear roles: Prototyper, Builder, Sweeper, Grower, and Maintainer. Each role has its own mission in the product lifecycle, from the initial idea to reliable operation. Work is done on our online campus, our websites, our shop, and on new AI-supported learning and sales products.
New features are created so quickly and cheaply today that products almost overload themselves. As a Sweeper (m/f/d), you are the immune system against this: You keep our systems lean, merge duplicates, systematically decommission unused elements, and make technical debt visible before it slows down the team's pace. Your work ensures that every new idea remains quickly implementable. We keep the experience level open: Junior to Senior is possible. What matters is your desire to create great results together with AI tools.
What your tasks will be
- Cleanup: Identify and systematically decommission unused functions, feature flags, scripts, and automations.
- Reduce complexity: Consolidate duplicate logic in code, data models, and processes, and reduce dependencies.
- Create transparency: Establish and regularly report key figures on code health, test coverage, build times, and error rates.
- Refactoring with a safety net: Secure migrations through tests, feature flags, and clear rollback paths.
- AI as a tool: Analyze large codebases and system landscapes with AI tools and accelerate cleanup tasks.
- Data hygiene: Consolidate fields, integrations, and interfaces between campus, shop, website, and CRM.
- Traceability: Document what was removed, why, and what replaces it.
- Coordination: Clarify decommissioning early with Builder, Grower, Maintainer, and specialist departments to avoid surprises.
What you should bring
- Completed degree in a technical field, for example, in computer science, engineering, or computer science.
- Experience with refactoring, migrations, or replacing legacy systems.
- Confidence in reading foreign code and assessing its impact on the overall system.
- Routine in automated tests as a safety net for major refactorings.
- Ability to evaluate feature usage data-based, for example, via SQL, logs, and product analytics.
- Knowledge of TypeScript or JavaScript and Python; experience with PHP environments is an advantage for our campus.
- Enjoyment of using AI tools for code analysis, test generation, and documentation.
- Resilience and strong communication skills to convincingly justify simplification.
- Structured, meticulous way of working and an eye for what truly creates value.
- Very good German skills, written and spoken, and good English skills.
