We are seeking a Staff Front-End Engineer specializing in Next.js and React to deliver world-class craft, aesthetic taste, and engineering excellence to our product experience. This role is crucial for enabling developers, startups, and enterprises to confidently ship and scale applications rapidly.

The ideal candidate thinks in interactions and systems, prioritizes polish and performance, and excels at taking a product from design (Figma) to production. This is a unique opportunity to build a world-class dotcom from a fresh repository for one of the world’s most popular open source projects.

What You’ll Do

• Lead the front-end architecture of core products using Next.js/React, ensuring exceptional performance, reliability, and developer experience, in partnership with Marketing.
• Own the end-to-end user experience, collaborating with design to craft highly interactive, elegant interfaces.
• Implement thoughtful, scalable front-end systems and component libraries to enhance quality and speed across the engineering organization.
• Shape the integration layer between the React front-end and Laravel back-end, developing clean, resilient APIs and data flows.
• Optimize modern web performance, focusing on speed, interactivity, and fluid motion across all devices.
• Collaborate closely with Product and Design teams to prototype quickly, iterate intentionally, and ship premium, effortless experiences.
• Mentor engineers across front-end and full-stack teams, elevating standards for craft, code quality, and design sensitivity.
• Contribute to the long-term technical vision for development and deployment on Laravel Cloud.

Requirements

What You’ll Bring

• 8+ years of experience building production-scale web applications, with deep expertise in Next.js, React, TypeScript, and modern front-end architecture.
• Strong aesthetic sense and attention to detail regarding spacing, animation, typography, and interaction fidelity (Taste).
• Proven experience building polished, high-performance user interfaces known for clarity and speed.
• Strong systems-thinking ability: capable of designing scalable component models, state management patterns, data-loading strategies, and routing architectures.
• A collaborative mindset, effectively partnering with designers, backend engineers, and product leaders.
• Experience integrating with or building back-ends, ideally using Laravel, PHP, or modern REST/GraphQL API stacks.
• A bias toward iteration: prototyping fast, refining continuously, and shipping without compromising quality.
• Excellent communication skills necessary to drive cross-functional decisions at the staff level.

Bonus Skills

• Experience contributing to or maintaining large-scale design systems.
• Familiarity with server components, edge rendering, caching strategies, and Web Vitals optimization.
• Contributions to open source projects within the React/Next.js ecosystem.
• Experience working at developer-platform or cloud-infrastructure companies.
