Job Description

We are seeking a passionate and experienced Staff Engineer to co-lead our modernization efforts, drive innovation, and play a key role in product evolution. Your expertise in cloud technologies, legacy system migrations, and microservices will be crucial in modernizing our architecture and enhancing scalability, supporting the continued growth of Feegow and Docplanner Group.

As a Staff Engineer, you will be fully responsible and accountable for leading impactful, complex cross-group and cross-area technical initiatives, ensuring high-quality solutions with high operational standards. You will actively partner with Engineering Managers and other tech counterparts to shape the direction of our area and the company. This role reports directly to the Engineering Director.

We are committed to continuous improvement, open feedback, and efficient goal achievement. This role offers an opportunity to actively contribute to the technical direction of the area.

Our tech stack at Docplanner Tech includes .Net, PHP, and Vue/React, running on Kubernetes in AWS. While expertise in these specific technologies isn't strictly required, this is a very technical and hands-on role. Strong communication skills and experience influencing technical decisions are essential to effectively support the teams.

What You Will Be Doing:

• Lead and drive technical initiatives impacting area-level directions (approximately 5 teams).
• Actively partner with Engineering Manager / Tech Lead counterparts and engineering teams, working closely with area/company leaders to develop an effective technical strategy.
• Provide accountability for all led technical initiatives.
• Act as a point of reference for our Engineering teams.
• Provide technical guidance, mentorship, and coaching within the team.

You’re Likely a Great Fit for This Role If You:

• Have a solid technical background related to SDLC principles and practices (Agile/CD, Lean, SRE, DevOps) and can support/unblock engineering teams in complex technical discussions.
• Approach software development with a lean, proactive, and positive mindset, balancing impact and long-term sustainable development, with strong accountability for delivering high-quality solutions.
• Have strong experience in backend development with a holistic understanding of full-stack systems.
• Possess experience in cross-team initiatives and creating buy-in for technical initiatives.
• Believe in continuous learning and improvement.
• Have experience not only designing/implementing/delivering high-quality and impactful solutions but also guiding and mentoring less experienced engineers.
• Demonstrate proven experience in legacy software modernization and migration to modern architectures.

Also Relevant for the Role:

• Domain Driven Design.
• Expertise in AWS to help shape our cloud infrastructure.
• Ability to oversee database optimizations (MySQL) for scalable solutions.
• Experience with cloud-native architectures using microservices and serverless, including interaction styles like synchronous and asynchronous communication, data streaming, and API technologies and lifecycle management.
• Advanced English skills: comfortable communicating in written and verbal English across global teams.
• Previous experience in consulting is a plus.
