Solutions Architect (Senior Development Role)

The Solutions Architect role is a senior development position primarily responsible for defining, planning, and executing web design and development projects. This role involves close collaboration with the sales and strategy team, project managers, designers, and developers. Additional key responsibilities include front-end or back-end development work on high-value or high-complexity projects. The Solutions Architect reports directly to the Director of Design and Development and the President.

Your Duties and Tasks: Technical Consulting & Project Definition

• Educate prospects on various platform solutions (e.g., BigCommerce, Shopify, Magento, WordPress) using a consultative, best practices approach, including analysis to match business and technical requirements.
• Conduct needs analysis and technical scoping sessions with prospective customers to gather and document key requirements.
• Provide pre-sales technical consulting to the Sales staff through online demonstrations, conference calls, and site visits with project managers.
• Document prospective client needs and project requirements accurately.
• Serve as a trusted advisor and the voice of the sales and marketing teams to prospects and partners.
• Work closely with the sales team to respond to proposals and RFPs, ensuring technical recommendations address client requirements.
• Develop custom solutions by working with third-party partners or solutions when necessary.
• Help create thought leadership content, white papers, and other sales or marketing collateral highlighting agency capabilities.
• Develop new processes and practices to ensure teams operate as industry leaders.
• Stay up to date with the latest features, capabilities, and applications released by different platforms to provide optimal client guidance.
• Lead internal project planning and development of recurring solutions for frequent client needs (e.g., web application development for e-commerce features).
• Support design and project management team members during project discovery to anticipate UX best practices and scopes of work for future phases.
• Provide emergency development support for key Coalition clients and major accounts.

Required Skills and Experience

• 4-5+ years of Solutions Engineering experience in a relevant market or in a similar senior level development position.
• Strong knowledge of web technologies including HTML, CSS, JavaScript, and PHP.
• Experience with various eCommerce and CMS platforms such as BigCommerce, Shopify, Magento, and WordPress.
• Experienced in solution architecture, project scoping, and product demonstration skills.
• Comfort with consultative presentations to C-level business executives and detailed, in-depth discussions with technical audiences.
• Experience with commerce solutions and applications including POS, product catalogs, order management, ERP, and payment gateways.
• A charismatic and energetic self-starting personality.
• Ability to collaborate with and motivate multiple groups toward accomplishing a task.
• Strong verbal, presentation, written, and organizational skills.

Preferred Qualifications

• Sales methodology and solution selling training a plus.

Compensation Disclosure

For California, New York, Washington, and Colorado residents, the starting base pay for this position ranges between $22.50 - $35 per hour. Compensation may vary based on factors such as experience, qualifications, skills test performance, geographic location, and seniority of the position offered. Outside of these states, compensation may fall outside the above ranges.
