Software Quality Engineer (m/f/d)

This is a permanent, full-time, remote Software Quality Engineer position based in Germany.

As a Software Quality Engineer, you will ensure technical software quality throughout the entire development lifecycle, actively shaping standards for code quality, security, and sustainable maintainability.

Responsibilities

• Ensure and continuously improve technical software quality.
• Establish company-wide procedures for code quality for PHP (ideally Yii2) and Node.js.
• Further develop code review processes, review criteria, and quality standards.
• Administer and optimize SonarQube, Quality Profiles, and Quality Gates.
• Integrate static code analysis, security scans, and quality metrics into CI/CD processes.
• Automate quality checks in build, test, and deployment processes.
• Analyze technical debt, quality risks, and security-relevant vulnerabilities.
• Derive improvement measures and consistently track their implementation.
• Prepare quality metrics for relevant stakeholders in a target-group-oriented manner.
• Support architecture, security, and quality reviews of applications.
• Advise development teams and departments on code quality, maintainability, and technical excellence.

Qualifications

• Relevant, multi-year professional experience in software quality, software development, or Quality Engineering.
• Profound, multi-year experience in software development with PHP (ideally Yii2) and Node.js.
• Practical experience with SonarQube, static code analysis, Quality Profiles, and Quality Gates.
• Experience integrating quality and security checks into CI/CD pipelines, as well as in build, test, and deployment processes.
• Familiarity with common secure coding principles, application security requirements, and methods for analyzing technical debt.
• Analytical, structured, and solution-oriented approach to technical vulnerabilities, quality risks, and cross-departmental interfaces.
• Ability to communicate technical matters clearly, concisely, and appropriately for the target audience, demonstrating cooperativeness and assertiveness.
• Proactive, responsible, and high standards for technical excellence and sustainable software quality.
• Fluent German language skills and very good English language skills.
