The Information Systems and Innovation (IS&I) team is actively seeking an experienced Software Engineering Leader. This role focuses on developing technologies and products that leverage software engineering and product knowledge to provide discriminating capabilities to internal teams, organizations, business areas, and customers. The successful candidate will support the software engineering lifecycle, adhering to the program's Software Development Plan (SDP). Responsibilities include requirements analysis, object-oriented analysis & design, code & unit test, integration, and support for formal test/delivery.
This position involves leading, overseeing, and guiding major projects to successful completion. Decisions made will have high visibility and require strategic thinking to influence the organization. Engagement is required in every phase of the system development lifecycle, including requirements generation, system and software design, development, implementation, integration, and deployment. Activities will span research, proof of concepts, prototype development, demonstrator building, transition to production, planning & budgeting, and staffing.
We are looking for a skilled software development engineer leader to plan, conduct, and coordinate all phases of software projects, from design through testing and debugging. The candidate will create logical and mathematical solutions in code to address business and mission-critical problems, applying established standards, processes, procedures, and tools throughout the development life cycle. Leveraging deep knowledge of software/hardware infrastructure and domain-specific applications, this role involves translating user-derived requirements into robust applications, correcting errors, producing clear operating instructions, and compiling comprehensive documentation. An analysis of system capabilities is essential to resolve questions about program intent, output requirements, data acquisition, programming techniques, and controls, ensuring all software meets rigorous standards. This position involves developing solutions, with work reviewed for judgment, accuracy, and quality, and contributing to organizational projects and goals through effective collaboration with team members and selected external contacts.
These techniques will be applied to solve complex problems and develop innovative solutions. The selected candidate will also be expected to assume technical responsibilities and take ownership of development tasks.
Basic Qualifications
- Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering, Computer Science, or other related discipline
- Experience with C# .NET, .NET Core, C, C++, Java, JavaScript, TypeScript, PhP, Web-based languages (Angular, HTML5, CSS, etc.), and other compiled languages
- Experience interfacing with databases (SQL Server, MySQL, PostgreSQL, MongoDB, etc.)
- Experience with the development of APIs to work with Native code/solutions
- Experience with DevOps tools: Docker, Git [GitLab, GitHub], Continuous Integration [CI], Continuous Deployment [CD]
- Working knowledge of backend data connections and endpoints
- Experience developing applications on Windows and Linux
- Creative and resourceful when it comes to problem-solving
- Ability to collaborate in a team-oriented environment with virtual teams
- Ability to lead and mentor fellow developers and employees
- Must be a US Citizen.

Pay Information
GeoZone Definition: GeoZones are geographic groupings created by Lockheed Martin to align compensation ranges with regional labor markets and cost-of-labor differences across the United States. Locations are assigned a Geo Zone based on the primary work location of the role.
Full-time salary range (GEOZONE 1): $150800.00 - $280000.00
Includes metropolitan areas such as Sunnyvale CA; Pal Alto, CA; New York City metropolitan area; Newark, New Jersey; etc.
Full-time salary range (GEOZONE 2): $135700.00 - $251900.00
Includes metropolitan areas such as Denver, CO; King of Prussia, PA; Stratford, CT; Moorestown, NJ; etc.
Full-time salary range (GEOZONE 3): $120600.00 - $224000.00
Includes metropolitan areas such as Dallas–Fort Worth, TX; Orlando, FL; Grand Prairie, TX; Marietta, GA; etc.
Full-time salary range (GEOZONE 4): $108600.00 - $201600.00

Annual short-term and/or long-term incentive compensation programs may be offered depending on the position. Payments under these annual programs are not guaranteed and can vary from year to year and are tied to a range of performance metrics.
For (Washington state applicants only) Non-represented full-time employees: accrue at least 10 hours per month of Paid Time Off (PTO) to be used for incidental absences and other reasons; receive at least 90 hours for holidays. Represented full time employees accrue 6.67 hours of Vacation per month; accrue up to 52 hours of sick leave annually; receive at least 96 hours for holidays. PTO, Vacation, sick leave, and holiday hours are prorated based on start date during the calendar year.
